Castrol EDGE 5W-30 Full Synthetic Motor Oil (1 Quart)

Part No. 06248 Warranty Details
Castrol EDGE is three times stronger against viscosity breakdown than the leading synthetic and leading conventional oils. The unique titanium technology physically changes the way oil behaves under extreme pressures doubling its film strength, preventing oil from breaking down and reducing friction to maximize engine performance.

Product Features:
  • Castrol EDGE with Fluid Titanium has twice the film strength of our previous formula based on the HFRR friction test.
  • Tested in 5W-30 versus all major conventional brands, Mobil1 and Mobil1 Extended Performance in the ASTM D6278 test.
  • API Service SM, SL and SJ; meets all requirements of ILSAC GF-4/GF-3/GF-2; API Certified Gasoline Engine Oils; Ford WSS-M2C930-A, Ford WSS-M2C153-H and DEXOS

Comments about Castrol EDGE 5W-30 Full Synthetic Motor Oil (1 Quart):

I have used Castrol Synthetic in several vehicles I have owned. Never had a problem, reviews are great and I have a 2013 GMC Sierra that I will be paying for for a few more years. I don't want issues and one of the best ways is use a quality motor oil...This is. Even though it states I can go more, I only put on 5000 miles per oil & Filter change. The extra money is worth it as well as a good Synthetic Oil Filter.

Comments about Castrol EDGE 5W-30 Full Synthetic Motor Oil (1 Quart):

Previous truck that used Syntec had over 400,000 miles and still ran great when I purchased new truck. Even after sitting a couple of years (nephew had it and bought more "economical" vehicle) it ran fine after it was started. Truck's engine never had any internal work required except for timing chain at 350,000 miles.
Present truck now has 200,000 miles, no problems.

I use this oil in my 2009 Nissan maxima. Nissan calls for "ester" based oil for use in the maxima, but I have been using castrol edge oils since I bought the car new. I get about 7500 miles out of the oil between changes and it still smells clean, but looks dark and dirty. I have not had the oil tested but others have and give this oil high marks

How many miles do you get from casttrol syntec 5w-30 full synthetic oil, when used in a BMW 530xi 2006, which takes 7 quarts?
Asked on 1/8/2014 by Dr. O from CT

                1 answer

                • CUSTOMER CARE

                  A:

That's a great question! Many of the advanced synthetic motor oils claim up to 15,000 mile oil change intervals. Your vehicle manufacturer and Castrol both recommend you follow your vehicle owners manual recommendations for oil change intervals. For your 2006 BMW 530xi under the standard service interval you would change your oil and filter every 7,500 miles. For severe service intervals it is recommended to change your oil and filter every 3,000 miles. There is a note for the vehicle indicating that if your vehicle system in monitored to follow the manufacturer's service instructions. There is one other way to know for sure and it's an oil analysis, you would send used oil to a company to analyze and let you know how long the oil may remain in the vehicle. Many fleets use this option, but it can be cost prohibitive to consumers.

it is a very good oil, and i do recommend that you follow the exact weight for your jetta, using a thicker oil, can cause internal damage. there is no 5 w 40, but 10 w 40 and that is too heavy for your car specs
