Wiper Pulse Module a partial success

Comments about CARQUEST Wiper Motors Wiper Motor Pulse Board Module - New:

Bought module. Instructions show a different module (looks like one for a S10 Truck) that tells you to bend two contacts up at least 1 inch above the circuit board. That isn't even possible with this module and would destroy it if you did that. The instruction leave something to be desired, like the correct ones for this part. My wipers work now on Delay and High and Low speeds but when you turn the wire switch off the wipers park straight up on the windshield instead of down where they belong. I may have the small white cam inside on the board in the wrong position so will have to pull it out one more time.

        A:

With reference to your inquiry on the Cardone Select Wiper Motor Pulse Board Module - New -part# 81-1012PB, the wiper motor pulse board module regulates the delay timing of the intermittent wipers, but if not working properly, the wipers may not work at all. The wiper circuit that controls the motor is staying closed to ground. It needs to be open when in delay mode. So that the delay circuit can control the opening and closing to ground or the delay circuit has an open circuit burned up capacitor, relay, etc or it could be a stuck parking switch which should open on in park mode. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem. Some of the easier things are to check if the pump works, to check for 12V at the motor, and to check for voltage at the control wire. There is a possibility of bad grounds, or a problem internal to the motor, like corrosion of the switch assembly contacts or other mechanical failure. Cleaning the park switch contacts in the wiper motor housing will also rectify the error.

        A:

The wiper motor has a controller mounted to the front of it and it is going bad. You will need to replace the wiper motor to solve your problem, as you can not get just a module for this wiper motor. You can replace the wiper motor with the Cardone Wiper Motor Part No. 40-1011 and it will solve the issue.

I have a '02 Pontiac Grand Prix SE with the 3.1L V6 and the wipers, while on intermittent speeds, stop at the top of the windshield but are at the correct position at the parked location. Will this fix this issue and where is it located? Thanks for the help!

This should be in the wiper motor assembly itself or in the air vent.

      • A:

This is located on the wiper motor and you must remove the wiper motor to replace this pulse board. I had the same problem with the wipers pausing in the middle of the windshield, you can repair yours if you have the time and patience buy bending the top contact approximately 3/4 to 1.0 inch up away from the cam. (second pic and the contact closest to you) I don't know why it works, but it does.
