At first this driver's side installation in my son's 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager looked like it would be a real pain to do - Not so. Product is well-built and the motor speed is excellent, plus everything lined up perfectly. Be sure to spray lube the door frame wherever the window slides, this will help the window move more freely. (I used wd40). Best advice I can give is duct tape the window in the up position, clear your head, find a bright location to work and take your time. To make the install easier, take a good look at the existing setup, then lay the new regulator out in front of you with the greased rails side facing down. After removing the old unit, install the side with the shorter cables first(right side). Guide the top of the right rail up and in to the center until the bottom is inside the door, then fit it in the slots. (Leaving the lower mounting screw in the rail will make it easier to fit). Then do the same with the left side. It tells you not to cut the zip tie holding the cable behind the motor but I did to give it more slack to mount. (I also used a Sharpie to mark which holes the motor mounted in before I took the old one out). Next, hold the window, remove the duct tape, then lower the window to the sliders on the regulator rails. The guide pins on the bottom of the window snap into the those silver clips using a little force. Test the motor before replacing door panel. Hoping it lasts a long time...

The cable assembly in the OEM assembly failed. This failure caused the window to fail in down position. The Dorman Power Window Regulator and Motor Assembly actually has a better design. What it does not have is a motor as strong as the original equipment. The motor drive is different, which means your existing motor can not be saved for a spare.

The assembly works fine as long as one does not retract the window fully into the door. When fully retracted the motor can barely raise the window half way without one having to help pull it up. It is better than nothing.

Purchased for 98 Plymouth Grand Voyager (not sure why more reviewers do not identify their vehicles). Did internet search for installation instructions for my van and job was done within 2 hours. With instructions and the assembly in hand, anyone with some mechanical ability can install. Currently is working like new after 2 weeks. Only time will tell about durability.

Comments about CARQUEST Window Reg Power Window Regulator and Motor Assembly:

After checking online for the possible causes about my window not working my next step was finding a compatible replacement. I was very happy with the availability and price of this replacement. I must admit it is a bit tricky to install due to the constraints of my door panel but after a bit of juggling everything fell into place. This product was a perfect fit and worked like a charm. I submitted my order online and it was available within minutes at the location of choice.

Comments about CARQUEST Window Reg Power Window Regulator and Motor Assembly:

The part appears to work well so far. Seemed to be good value. The auto manufacturer engineered a complex system, so it was a very difficult installation process. I sure hope it continues to function well for a long time as I do not want to have to reinstall this contraption. I do think that the installation instructions were incomplete and the print size was almost impossible to read as it was extra small print.
I think with better instructions and pictures it would have made ease of installation better.

Except for the lack of installation instructions, I am greatly impressed with the quality and duplication of the original equipment's design. I went to youtube and viewed a video on installation.
This removal and installation went smooth and quick.
I would recommend this part to anyone that needs a replacement for the original.

First one I installed lasted less than a week, second one seems to be a new design with a few suttle changes and better quality, working fine.I would still recommend this but as with anything electrical it buyer beware you might be doing things twice.

To get the best help on installing the window regulator on your car, I recommend stopping by your local Advance Auto Parts store and picking up a Haynes repair manual for your vehicle. This manual will be able to give you step by step instructions on replacing the regulator.
