Comments about Carquest Wearever Master Cylinder - New:

I have installed four of theses New Cardone Master Cylinders. They are an American Company with the parts Made in China on the side of the box. The first MC leaked on booster the 2nd day it was installed. The 2nd MC reservoir left/right chambers did not fill with fluid. The 3rd MC leaked after installation. The 4th MC; reservoir would not fill with fluid like MC no. 2. I had an ASE Certified shop install two for me that was purchased from the same AAP store.

Their first one leaked at install and the second lasted long enough for me to drive 40 miles prior to pedal going soft and fluid leaking down the power booster.

It does not matter where you purchase this MC or similar MC's for your vehicle, no matter the name on the store website, when you pick up the box, it is a Cardone Select MC Made in China.

I ordered an AC Delco MC for my Ford F150. IF THIS DOESN'T WORK, IT MAY SET AND RUST BEFORE IT GET'S FIXED.

I'm very disappointed as AAP usually is a great place to purchase certain item's for my vehicles.

AAP, please purchase MC's not Made in China. I have found numerous links online that have had bad MC's from Cardone; an American Company. I will never purchase Cardone parts unless they are the only company to manufacture the part I need. And hopefully, that will not be a Master Cylinder (MC). This will most likely not be posted on the AAP site. We'll see...

this master cylinder has and extra connection on the front on top. It comes with a plastic plug. First why is that there in the first place and second is a plastic plug safe. I really don't feel good about it being plastic. Also this didn't have any bench bleeding adapters, it was hard to get the air out

Hi Nightrider48, I'm glad to assist you! In Master Cylinder - Part No. MCA390183, the connection up front is for the cruise control and the connection on the side of the reservoir is the fluid level sensor. Please provide us with the details of your application (including the year, make and model) and I will be happy to provide you with the alternate Master Cylinder with bench bleeding adapters that can be used if available.

Where exactly does the o'ring that comes with the new master cylinder go.

I put on this new master cylinder , and bleed the whole system and got great brake peddle pressure, but when I start the engine and it runs I loose all brake pressure. 1994 ford f-150 4.9 engine manual transmission 4x4

Hi Shaun, I will be happy to assist you with your question. The o-rings usually go on the back of the master cylinder that goes into the brake booster; another O-ring would go on the brake lines that fasten to the master cylinder. I suggest you check your brake hoses at the wheels for kinks or swelling. You may also want to check if you bench bled the master cylinder before installation, there may be air in the master cylinder.

            A:

Hi Susan, it's a good question! Yes, the master cylinder comes with O-rings, that goes inside the rod support and on the outside in the upper groove (the one without the slots) of the rod support.

            Answered on 11/10/2014 by Solomon
          • A:

The O-ring goes on the proportioning valve which which is attached to the side of your old master cylinder. It has to be removed form your old master cyliner and threaded onto your new one. Remove it and there will be an O-ring there. You should replace it with the new one.
