Comments about Carquest Wearever Master Cylinder - New:

Had the dreaded soft break pedal on my 2001 Durango. After doing multiple brake bleeds it was determined that my problem was the master cylinder. Local Advanced Auto had this part in stock direct fit for my vehicle. Picked the Master Cylinder up and had it installed and system bled (yet again) in less than an hour and a half. Make sure you do a bench bleed before installing to remove as much air as possible. Direct fit easy installation and quality part that bought my break pedal back to where it should be.

Comments about Carquest Wearever Master Cylinder - New:

The master cylinder by Cardone Select was the exact match as the original, installed with no problems. Only difference was the new master cylinder came with an electrical connection option if your vehicle had that connection for low fluid indicator. Mine didn't have that but it works without that connection.

The sensor did not fit. Paid more to get the bottle. Save money and get the one without the bottle.

          • Q:

When I push my brake pedal (2002 Dodge Durango 5.9L) it goes almost to the floor - if I push hard and pump it while stopped it goes further down each pump - is that a leaking master cylinder?

              A:

This part Cardone Select New Master Cylinder, Part No. 13-2967 is an exact fit for your 2002 Dodge Durango 5.9L. Check for fluid level, brake lines, brake hoses and look for any leaks. Check for any internal failure (ie; weakened internal seal) in the master cylinder. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis.

          • Q:

The brakes on my '99 Dodge Durango (4X4, 5.2L V-8) doesn't seem to fully release. They seem to drag or hang up and it doesn't seem to be an issue at the wheels. Could this be the problem??

I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

Will the system have to be bleed after installing ?

              A:

You must bleed the cylinder twice, first "bench bleed" the cylinder before installing it on the vehicle, then bleed the cylinder at its brake line connections after installation
