I use these gold ceramic pads quite often and have never had any customer complaints. They are quiet, low dust, and fit very well. It would be nice if they came with new shims like the platinum series do, but I'm sure that's why they are cheaper than the platinums.
If you are looking for a good every day driver replacement brake pad, these are it! I always recommend installing new rotors for maximum life and even wear of the new pads. In doing this, you will insure a nice quiet and smooth set of brake pads.

I am a state certified mechanic, and also work in my field, that being said, this job was done in my father's garage on his vehicle. My shop also used Advance for our parts.

The brake pads matched the part numbers on the box and also got rotors as well. Installing them was easy, however after driving the vehicle we noticed heavy smoke from both rear wheels, investigated and found both brakes were constantly on rotor and had caused overheating of the rotors. After days of trying different ideas, we bought the Ford parts, pads and rotors again. These came with hardware, which Advance did not, and were slightly thinner than the ones from Advance. Instantly this fixed the brake drag problem that it had after the initial brake job.

All checks included cleaning and lubricating slides, multiple times, cleaning anti-rattle clips, and checking the parking brake mechanism which is built into the caliber on these vehicles. The #1 hint was that both pistons were turned (again due to the design of the caliber these must be turned back in) all the way back to full retracted state, and the caliber was STILL very tight to get on.

Brake pads for Ford Fusion were well constructed and were a perfect fit for the caliper. Price was as expected, but using an internet coupon code made them very affordable.

The pads fit as expected. I was surprised to find that there was no hardware to replace the retaining clips on the caliper in the box. I was also surprised when I found the pads laying loose in the box.

Comments about Carquest Wearever Gold Ceramic Brake Pads - Rear (4-Pad Set):

there are a decent quality and matched up to the OEM pads i removed. I was a bit concerned as the one set of pads metal "ears" to slide into the mounting bracket were larger than those of which i removed. I had to force them into the clips and hope they will still function as intended.

Comments about Carquest Wearever Gold Ceramic Brake Pads - Rear (4-Pad Set):

Need to sand the "ears" to make it slide properly into the caliper guides. Also they are thicker than the OEMs so if your caliper piston is worn out and won't retract fully then you won't be able to use them and they will constantly grip the disk. I had to use a partially worn old pad plus a new pad on one side to avoid changing the caliper or returning the pads.

How many miles are these "rated" for?

              A:

Hi Marty, happy to help you! The lifespan of a brake pads is dependent on a very wide set of variables ranging from personal driving style to the impersonal laws of physics. Mechanics and manufacturers have a loosely agreed upon mileage range from around 30,000 to 70,000 miles (48,280 to 112,654 kilometers), but stories of pads lasting a mere 100 miles (160.9 kilometers) to an astounding 100,000 miles (160,934 kilometers) abound. These far-ranging numbers are understandable. Pads come in an array of types and compositions -- from composite to metallic to ceramic -- and are attached to an even more bewildering array of brake systems and rotors, all of which affect the life of the pad. Added to the mix are heat, pressure and friction in amounts that would astound most drivers.

            • CUSTOMER CARE

              A:

Hi Brandon! I would be happy to help! Kindly follow the instructions to replace the brake pads on your vehicle. Park your car on a level surface. If you have a stick shift car, make sure the car is in gear. Do not set the parking brake. Place blocks in front of the front tires so the car does not move while you are working on it. Open the hood of your car. Locate the master cylinder and brake fluid container. If necessary, remove the brake fluid until the level in the container is less than half full. A turkey baster is a good tool for this. Put the brake fluid in the plastic container and dispose of it the way you dispose of motor oil. Raise the rear end of your car with your car jack. Remove the rear tire or wheel assembly. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the brake caliper. The cable is usually held in place with a retaining clip. You can use pliers to remove the clip and disconnect the cable. Remove the upper caliper bolt. Rotate the caliper downward until you can comfortably work on it. Remove the springs, pads and shims from the caliper. Use the recommended tool to press the caliper piston back into the piston assembly. Insert the shims, springs and new pads into the caliper. Reconnect the parking brake cable. Rotate the caliper upward and back into place. Use the socket wrench to tighten the upper mounting bolt to 27 to 36 foot lbs. (37 to 49 mm) if you have a Mazda6, or in 16 to 23 foot lbs. (21 to 31 mm) if you have a Mazdaspeed6. Replace the tire wheel assembly. Lower the car to the ground. Add fluid to the master cylinder container to replace any you removed before you removed the old brake pads. Season the brake pads by making only gentle stops when you are driving for the first week after you install the new brake pads. Try not to do any hard stopping when you are seasoning the brakes.

Please also keep in mind that many suppliers have multiple manufacturing plants that could result in different countries of origin for the same part.
