The old rotors on my 2003 Accord have been vibrating for a couple of years. Vibration starts after about 5 seconds of reasonbly hard braking.

I decided to buy new rotors & pads, and a 35% off coupon from Advanced Auto Parts at just the right time, so I ordered them. The Advanced Auto Parts search function was pretty straight forward, the only glitches being a) I couldn't tell if my car had caliper or drum brakes in the back because both were listed -- yeah, I could have gone outside and checked and b) Rotors come 1 per package but pads come 2 per package so I accidentally bought an extra set of pads. No problem.

I installed them pretty easily, in about an hour, and took it for a test drive. It feels great and no vibes. Brakes engage higher and are more effective, so I'm bouncing people off the dash board until I get used to them.

Put these on my wife's car which is barley driven. I started driving her car recently and noticed they were warped and shimmying pretty bad. Finally looked for the receipt and they were 3-days past the 2 yr warranty! Oopss...well not buying these again that's for sure since they only lasted less than 10,000 miles....

Comments about Carquest Wearever Brake Rotor - Front:

Bought these for Honda Accord fit like a glove and work great. The only parts that should be included with the Brake Rotors are the hold down screws that you have to destroy to get the old rotors off. It would make sense to make this a complete install package with the addition of the four rotor hold down screws.

Comments about Carquest Wearever Brake Rotor - Front:

use this rotor on my 2006 accord at 90k. since the original rotor was never been replaced. it is time to get them replaced when I am replacing the pad for the second time on this car. because honda rotor has screws secured the rotor to the hub, usually people use impact screw drive to get them off. I ended up drill them out. I though about getting replacement screws but end up cannot find them in the store. that turn out actually better because those rotor dont have the same screw hole as the original honda rotor so it will not align with the right side of the wheel anyway. I end up didnt put any screw on them so when putting on the pad and wheel, have to be careful on the rotors to make sure they are flash to the hub and not tilt on one side.for the price, I have no complain. it is very quiet with the ceramic pad I got with good stopping power.

When combining the Advance Discount codes with these brakes + the rebates that Carquest/Wearever offers for the their rotors/pads, I ended up getting a SET of rotors and pads, front and back for the wife's Accord for under $100!

These things are awesome as far as fit and finish. Clean everything off properly and use liberal amounts of brake grease and the brakes perform as good or better than OEM

Hi Sharon, The other answer to this question is really good on how to check the rotors. One other factor here, and this happened to my wife, is that some mechanics will try to sell women much more than they need. In our case, the mechanic told her that our almost new van needed new brakes and rotors. I called the mechanic for an explanation and he said the pads were pretty worn and needed to be changed soon and he always suggests changing the rotors at the same time. His story to me was very different. I replaced the pads on my own after the fact and got a lot more use out of the rotors.

                        A:

Hi Sharon, glad to assist you! Instructions to check rotors: Park your vehicle on a level surface and turn your car's steering wheel to the far left or right so the tires are at an angle. Use a crowbar or tire iron to remove one of the wheel covers from the right or left tire, if a cover is in place. Shine a flashlight into the wheel--you will see the brake rotor and caliper. Look at the rotor's surface. If it has deep grooves, a burned appearance, ridges and brake dust caked in the grooves, the rotor needs replacing. Go to the other wheel and shine the flashlight. Look at the rotor's surface. If it too has deep grooves, ridges and brake dust caked in the grooves, the rotor needs replacing. Repeat steps 2 through 4 if your rear wheels contain disc brakes. Drive your vehicle on a street that is quiet and doesn't contain a lot of automobiles. Press on the brake pedal. If you feel the pedal bouncing or pulsating back toward your foot, one or more of your vehicle's rotors are failing. Listen for a grinding noise--metal against metal. This is an indication that your brake pads are bad and grinding into the rotors which are also in need of replacement. Look at your vehicle's dashboard warning lights. If the “ABS” light is on, this is an indication of a brake problem including one or more of the rotors failing. The ABS, anti-lock braking system, contains sensors that monitor the rotors, pads and other brake components.
