Poor fitment

Comments about CARQUEST Water Pump - New:

I had to grind the edges near the upper right side bolt hole because it had a sharp edge that was too high, and the holes for the center setting studs were too small. Very disappointed in the fitment, as it took more time to install (1995 Impala SS). Could have bought another remanufactured pump, but I already went thouugh 3 of those. Maybe I should have bought it from another store.

      • Q:

        Hello,
I have noticed that their is a difference in rotation of certain pumps from different manufacturers. Which is going to provide better cooling. What water pump is the best unit for my car. It is a 95 Chevrolet Caprice with a 5.7L P motor.
Asked on 7/6/2013 by swifty from East Lansing. MI

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

With reference to your inquiry on the ToughOne or GMB Water Pump - New - Part No. T5079, reverse rotation water pumps turn in the opposite direction of the crankshaft and are typically used with serpentine belts. The back (smooth) side of the belt is routed around the water pump pulley, thereby rotating it in the opposite direction of the crankshaft. Standard rotation water pumps turn in the same direction as the crankshaft and are typically used with V-Belts. Turning a water pump in the wrong direction will cause overheating in your 1995 Chevrolet Caprice 5.7L. For any further assistance, please feel free to call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto Parts store and one of our Parts Pros will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.
