This is more of a review of Advanced auto parts than the actual part. I bought the water pump in may of 2011 and the part actually failed. The craziest thing happened, I went to start my car and the pully snapped clean off! So I called the store I purchased it at, they took my number and verified the warrenty and are replacing it at no charge, sucks I have to change it again, but this is also why I "only" go to Advanced Auto for parts.

Comments about CARQUEST Water Pump - New:

I don't even know why they sell remanufactured water pumps anymore. The price is almost identical and you get a much better part and warranty. The part worked great. Bolted right in place. Installed it on a 07 Grand Prix. And while you are at it, change those plastic bypass hoses on the tensioner if they have not started leaking already. They sell aluminum ones now. It will save you a lot of time in the long run.

I would not buy this garbage unless you enjoy replacing water pumps, it was advertised as a CarQuest New Pump Online But It's Not and I put on Sunday and almost overheated Monday . Do Yourself A Favor And Buy Some Other Kind.

The water pump looked to be very nice quality, and it has good reviews...but I was disappointed to find that the lip seal on the pulley shaft started leaking after just a few months of use.

Comments about CARQUEST Water Pump - New:

My 1998 Pontiac GTP needed a new waterpump and belt replacement. I sourced what I needed on line and found a great discount at Advance Auto Parts. Showed up there in less than an hour and the parts were waiting for me. The counterman opened the box and showed me the pump and the included gasket. The belt was correct so I paid and was on my way home in 5 minutes. A typical purchase experience at this store. I never hesitate to tell my friends about this store, and always recommend they use the website to check for part availability; a great feature of shopping Advance Auto Parts.

Depending on the vehicle, you may need to take that pulley off to access that last bolt.

The power steering pump must be moved out of the wat to access this bolt. On my 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix there are 3 holes in the power steering pump pulley that allow access to two mounting bolts holding the steering pump in place. Turning the pulley and using a small mirror, accessing the bolt heads is easy.
