Replaced leaky water pump on 2012 Ford Focus. There's a good video on YouTube for this repair, pretty simple if you have basic tools.

Comments about CARQUEST Water Pump - New:

Serpentine belt easier to uninstall than old pump. O-rings provide too good of a seal that must be overcome to remove old part. Had to twist back and forth. Then, pry forward. Surfactant recommended to properly ease seating of new o-ring on install. Can use Goop hand cleaner to coat exterior of o-ring and contact surface. Install was hassle free.

It was harder to get the serpentine belt off and on than the water pump. I love it when parts are this easy to replace!

Old one out and new one in very straight forward. Didn't need it but for the price it was cheap insurance on a vehicle with 120K miles on it.

Great question Mike. I always recommend following the steps in a service manual for a replacement of the cooling system components. I would seek the advice of a local mechanic to gain confirmation.

Lubricant is for ease of proper install. If leaking, o-ring didn't seat properly. If o-ring damaged, recommend replacement. Surfactant used to coat exterior of o-ring and contact surface. Can use Goop hand cleaner. Would only recommend gasket sealer if old part used it.
