Comments about CARQUEST Water Pump - New:

Got the water pump replaced on my Volvo 2.4T at the same time as I did the timing belt. This pump fit perfectly. Bearing seemed stiff, but now, 2000 miles later, no problems, no leaks. As another customer stated in a review, the gasket is incredibly thin. I added some RTV to make double sure that the seal would be good. It is recommended to replace the water pump bolts at the same time as this repair, and the bolts are NOT included with this pump.

If anyone is debating whether or not to replace the water pump at the timing belt service interval, let me influence you to just go ahead and replace the water pump. While less common than belt failure, if the pump does fail, it will destroy the belt and in turn destroy your engine head, as this in an interference engine.

Comments about CARQUEST Water Pump - New:

This replacement should be done in conjunction with the timing system replacement where the kit is also available through AAP. The install is fairly lengthy, but the waterpump was an exact fit and performed perfectly.

Comments about CARQUEST Water Pump - New:

If you order this part save yourself some trouble and order an extra gasket as a backup, the one that comes with it may not survive installation. [...] I crafted my own from gasket material specifically for water pumps that was much sturdier than the one provided.

Comments about CARQUEST Water Pump - New:

Water pump comes in a sealed plastic bag so it won't become contaminated between the factory and your garage. Includes a new gasket, but it would be nice if replacement bolts were included, too. You need to thoroughly clean the old bolts so that you can put some sealer on them.
