Great part. Seemed to be better than the original. Contrary to what so many others are saying about installing this part, you DO NOT NEED TO DROP THE ENGINE! You don't even need to lower it. I have a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport 3.3l Flex Fuel. The wheel that attaches to the water pump is made such that there is a cut out in the center that is the same shape/size as the part of the water pump it connects to. You just undo the bolts from the wheel before you remove the pump. You can push the wheel back on the pump and then remove the bolts from the pump. The whole thing slides right out. I did mine total from start to finish in about 1.5 hours. Is it a bit of a pain? Yes, especially if you're not used to laying under a van on ramps, but I've seen worse. Good Luck!

Excellent construction compared to the competitor (which had plastic fins for the impeller). Gasket seems of above average quality as well.

Only problem - I couldn't get it to fit our 2005 Town and Country (3.8L engine). It has the right mount points, etc. However, if you measure the ASC part vs. the original factory part, the ASC is ever so slightly wider, which didn't leave enough room to slide the impeller into the mount point.

I spent about 45 minutes trying to manipulate the part into place, where I could easily install the original part and competitors part. It may just have been me, though.

Comments about CARQUEST Water Pump - New:

The pump went on well, I used some sealant to hold the gasket in place. Downfall was the car's design and small tight places that it had to go. I was not pleased to see the plastic fins on the pump, but that is the day and age, nothing is long lasting any more. All in all the pump will move water.

Appears to be better quality than the OEM.

Comments about CARQUEST Water Pump - New:

Perfect fit and appears to be better than the OEM part that I took off. The instructions that came in the box looked like they were for a Chev 350 and did not mention using RTV or other sealant.

Comments about CARQUEST Water Pump - New:

Not a bad looking part, did come with a new gasket. It is a little tricky to flat fate this pump. Not a super fan of after market pumps because they usually don't last very long. But have used this brand in the past and it been ok. Have had to replace these new ones with in a year every once in awhile due to bearing failures.

Comments about CARQUEST Water Pump - New:

This thing was a pain to install on my 04 town and country. With the wheel off you can get all but one bolt (the furthest back) out, and worse yet, getting it in. The only way to do so was to drop the engine a couple inches, get under the van, reach through a couple large holes in the frame and feel my way around. Knowing that trick ahead of time would have made the process much easier. Dropping the engines sounds bad but it wasn't. Just a jack under the oil pan with a piece of wood to distribute the weight. Remove the three bolts and lower the jack.

I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

I am trying to fix my daughters 2004 dodge carvan. Her radiator fan went out and her gauges started redlining. She drove home. I have replaced the fan and thermostat but it is still overheating.

Is it posible that the engine was so hot that it damaged the water pump? The water pump is not leaking.
