Comments about CARQUEST Water Pump - New:

I purchased this to replace a woefully dead water-pump that was a mere year old. I've learned my lesson. No more cheapies. So, I bought this one in hopes of a much longer life due to the "exceed original equipment specifications" statement. Of course, since I've only had it for a week, I certainly can't comment on it's longevity, but it fit & it works as of now.

Just an FYI, I was happy to find that this water pump can be installed without removing the timing cover. You will need an external torx socket for removal/installation. I don't want to explain everything, but it's about a 2 hour job. If you didn't know, you use a socket on the upper left most pulley's center bolt to loosen the belt. After that, you remove the pulley from the water pump (center of engine) and now you can see the pump & the 3 bolts holding it in (OK, it's really hard to see them, but you can feel them at least). If you have a steady hand, you can remove all 3 bolts. Make absolutely sure that you have a hold of the bolt before you get it all the way out or you WILL be pulling the timing cover off to recover it. So anyhow, you just pop the new one in & hand tighten the bolts back in (once again, being incredibly careful not to drop them) and you're set.
