Bought three of these and they all leak, I have another jeep with the metal one and it's still good after 25 years. I think you can still fine the metal one but you
        will pay much more money.

Comments about CARQUEST or Factory Air Vacuum Bypass Closes Heater Valve:

Just like everyone else states: leaks around the valve shaft.
I couldn' figure out where my coolant was going since it's just a trickle leak, but over time, you're needing more coolant.
        This is a new install!!!

Comments about CARQUEST or Factory Air Vacuum Bypass Closes Heater Valve:

Nice looking part, fits like OEM- but I had two leak within days. Both parts leak from where the metal arm enter the plastic housing. Don't waste your time or money on this part.

Broke original while changing spark plugs & wires.
Put "form a gasket" on each nipple and replaced original hose clamps with regular ones that I could tighten. All is good but time will tell.
Was just glad they had it on hand.

Worked fine but started leaking less than 3 months after being installed. Im now losing a fairly substantial amount of coolant everywhere i go. also made in china or taiwan, cant remember. I guess im going to have to try to find one made in the USA

No, this directs whether or not the coolant goes into the heater core.
