I bought this starter to replace the original OEM starter inmy work truck. My old starter was still working fine but I wanted to be proactive since my livelyhood depends on my truck. Three days after paying to have it installed my truck wouldn't start. I crawled underneath and hit the starter with a wrench and got it started. I then went to the garage that installed it and they checked it out and said the starter is junk. While it has a lifetime replacement warranty, it doesn't cover the cost of installation. Now I will be paying twice to replace a starter that was workingfine

Comments about CARQUEST Starter - Remanufactured:

It's a good quality rebuilt starter.
Only issue you will have is if it's on a 5.4 triton engine. If starter has never been removed then it will seem almost impossible to remove 3 simple bolts but don't give up 13mm socket with extension and ratchet 1/4 inch anything else won't work. Use wd40 dry off with a rag to keep out of your eyes then just get you some leverage once bust loose you got it. A glove on your hand on the end of ratchet will be a good idea cause it will hurt when they break loose. No room for wrenches or whatever you think you can use is simply out of the equation. Good luck this took me 3 hrs to change on 2004 Ford F-150 4x4.

It's a STARTER, so I treat it like a light bulb

Comments about CARQUEST Starter - Remanufactured:

Understand that this is a STARTER so for the most part I treat it like a light bulb. I installed it into my truck & she cranked up on the 1st time as I expect it to do. The only benefit you'll get is to make sure you sign up for SPEED PERKS so that you can receive a coupon for a later date purchase.
