Comments about CARQUEST Starter - Remanufactured:

This starter was the perfect replacemt to replace the warn out ORIGIONAL starter in my 1985 Chevrolet K20 6.2L Diesel Engine. It is a Gear reduction and not a Direct Drive like the origional so it weighed much less, so the install was a breeze. Nota that if tou are replacing your Direct Drive with this Gear Drive or a simmilar that you will need a different front mounting support bracket.I was able to order mine from a local Chevy dealer for around 23$, a small price to pay compared to a busted block when your bolts shear off without it. The GM part number for that bracket is #23502557. But all in all the starter was a perfect bolt on replacement and i couldnt be happier. The truck turns over intantly and doesnt have any trouble doing so. No i just have to replace my flywheel which has some small imporfections, but that will be another project.

Comments about CARQUEST Starter - Remanufactured:

I had several choices to replace my '93 Chevy truck's tired starter, but after reading other reviews, I passed on the cheaper starter my local store had in stock, and drove 10 extra miles to pick up this one. With a good core, it was only about $10 more expensive, and well worth it. This starter spins my 6.9L turbo V8 Turbo diesel fast, and that helps it start easier on cold New England mornings. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars, is because I've only had it a few weeks, and cannot speak to durability, or longevity. This starter is considered "better" in Advanced Auto's Good/Better/Best scale, and take it from me, pay the extra few bucks to get this one. The "Best" one was quite a lot more, so I passed on it because this is after all a 20 year old truck.

Spins the engine over really fast, being a diesel the faster the better for
