Comments about CARQUEST Starter - Remanufactured:

seems to be working well so far. Have to update more later. As for now, im happy it works. Have worked on my own car sense i was 16 and started driving. Car had clear signs it was the starter. It would not start on first turn, just spun on trying to turn it over. Also battery died out on my a few times a week. Battery now has no problem charging. So the electrical in the started was shot.
Per other instances with another buick i had, im replacing the starter as well. Both have been in the car a long time. Seems to me to be like a strut/shock. You replace one, do the other to avoid the headache. Just my experience to do it that way.
other starter i had from advance lasted me about 7 years or more. that one was brand new. See how long this one goes being re manufactured.

I had to buy this one because the lesser starter has a defective design. This starter will need shims...go ahead and buy them in advance! Other than that, this is an ok starter.

Comments about CARQUEST Starter - Remanufactured:

I was a having problems starting the car and it would not even start with a jump. I thought it was the starter and went to the dealer first and they wanted double($175.00) for what I got this starter at Advanced Auto Parts and the Dealer did not even have a starter in stock. The new starter looked great right of the box and my garage installed the starter without shims as it was advertised from Advanced Auto. The new starter has a lifetime warranty and Advanced gave the core charge back to me when I returned the old starter.

Comments about CARQUEST Starter - Remanufactured:

I went through the real pain of putting the starter in my 95 LeSabre (GM did not make it easy) just to hear a terrible noise when starting the car and an horribly loud grinding noise when the engine was running. I took the whole thing out to discover that the flywheel was banging on a small ring on the stater shaft. Back to the store, got some shims and managed to borrow the old starter to measure the right spacing. Turns out it needed to be shimed almost 1/8th inch! Pretty awesome for an exact fit!
After another couple hours, the thing seems to work. Sure hope it keeps working now.
It might be a good starter, but the spacing (at least on mine) is way of! Be sure to measure that on the one you take out and match it or you might be on to double your job time!

Comments about CARQUEST Starter - Remanufactured:

the starter did not come with shims. The directions for the shims were backwards. The shim had to go closest to engine. The starter was hitting the side of the fly wheel. [...] It took the thickest full shim in the back which is really hard to get to. Not really the fault of starter as much as fault of GM.

Comments about CARQUEST Starter - Remanufactured:

The product is a reman so it should fit properly.Unfortunately replacing this on a 94 Buick Regal is a little more of a chore instead of removing two bolts. After installation I ran the starter and it sounds terrible. Possibly dragging and very loud! I can tell I am going to have to return this under warranty and go through the chore again of replacing. What a [*]!

                  A:

I'm happy to help, Sixgun6! I can imagine this has been a frustrating situation. Before removing the ToughOne Remanufactured Starter (Part No. 6339S), I suggest checking your connections and the wires to ensure that they are secure and in good condition. If you find that these are in working order, your local Advance Auto Parts store can test your electrical system and your starter for FREE. Make sure to bring your receipt in case you do have a failed starter so that your store can exchange the item.

Generally yes but if you go onto the repair guide it will give you detailed information on what to do. My 94 Regal was a little difficult and wasn't your simple two bolts.
