Comments about CARQUEST Starter - Remanufactured:

I installed one of these into my mustang. I turned the key and....nothing. I took the starter out and hooked it directly to the battery via jumper cables and it wouldn't even turn over. I took it back to Advance and they tested it on their machine. It tested good (and so did the one I took out). We then tried to make it work with the jumper cable method...nothing. We tried another brand of starter and it spun like crazy. Same cables, same battery. Just for kicks, I had them order another starter and the second one did the exact same thing as the first. Since then, I ordered the Bosch and put my troubles behind me. Save yourself the time and just order the better starter!

Be careful that it's the right starter

Pros

  • Easy To Use

Cons

Comments about CARQUEST Starter - Remanufactured:

While the rebuild quality on this starter seems to be good, the product was mis-labeled and was not the right starter for the application.

The starter appears virtually identical to the original, but the subtle differences I didn't notice until I tried installing it on my 1965 Mustang. The head of the starter was for a different application, and rendered this product useless.

In short, buyer beware, and ensure you have the EXACT correct part.

Comments about CARQUEST Starter - Remanufactured:

I installed one recently and it wouldn't kick out after the engine started--as a result, it chipped some of the teeth in my flywheel. Advance replaced it with another one, but the second one didn't line up and couldn't even be installed. [...] These remanned starters are built in Mexico according to the sticker on them. Regardless, the quality is very poor.
