Exact fit in our 2003 Toyota Corolla. Looked exactly like the OEM Toyota (Denso) starter it replaced. Starter is on front side of engine so it was very reachable from the top (front-most bolt) and bottom (electrical connectors and rear-most bolt). My son and I knocked the job out in 1-2 hours without having to put the car up on jacks. Thankful Advance Auto had this remanufactured model in stock and at an affordable price. New starter eagerly fired up the engine and we were happy! Threw the car up on ramps and changed the oil and filter while we were at it.

Fits perfectly on my Corolla. Easy to install if you know what you are doing. My car cranked up nicely. I just hope it last for a long time. You got to have your starter change after 140,000 miles. Do not wait for it to die on you. It will just be a hassle and will cost you extra bucks. Always look for a deal online and save a few bucks. Advanced auto has a free starter and alternator test. Use it to your advantage.

Comments about CARQUEST Starter - Remanufactured:

Bought this inexpensive replacement starter and completed the job in less than two hours. It's basically a plug-and-play part - you fasten it with two bolts, plug it in, and it's ready to go. Solved my irregular starting problems. However, the power connector did not "click" into the new starter's socket - it can wiggle loose. Once, I turned the key and got nothing. Opened the hood and pushed the plug in to fix it. Got to figure out a way to keep it firmly plugged in.

Fine starter, but the plastic tab for electrical connection was broken. I was able to make the connection, but had to use several plastic ties to secure the wire in place.

DOA - Complete piece of junk, cost me a LOT of money.

By

Comments about CARQUEST Starter - Remanufactured:

Purchased this reman starter, had a 'passed XXXX tests' tag on it. Bolted in - nothing. Thought 'something else has to be wrong', paid for a tow, local Toyota dealership said 'alternator is DOA'. They pulled it off, I picked it up, ran back to Advance where it was tested and 'it's fine', took it back to Toyota, had it reinstalled and still nothing. They apparently went elsewhere and got a reman unit and it fired right up. Extremely disappointed Advance; I spend WAY too much money to be getting a product that doesn't work (and ends up costing me significantly more in towing and shop-costs).

Fit in and works. Slight variations from the OE.

Comments about CARQUEST Starter - Remanufactured:

It bolted right on and works just fine. When comparing to the original starter, this one had few slight differences that don't seem to affect either fit or function. But it obviously wasn't rebuilt from the OE, if that matters. The lifetime warranty is nice, but hope I won't have to use it.

Comments about CARQUEST Starter - Remanufactured:

I had a couple unpleasant surprises after picking up an online order. First, the appearance of the starter assembly I received does not match the appearance of the picture in the catalog entry. Second, the form/fit is different enough that installation was challenging. The differences that caused the difficulties were both size (replacement was slightly larger, leaving nearly zero clearance around the starter) and terminal locations (primary battery lead terminal has to reach slightly further and go around a corner).
However, so far the new starter is starting the car. I'm a little worried about longevity since the original terminal boot does not fit snugly around the replacement's terminal, but only time will tell whether the slight exposure will lead to shorts and corrosion.

        A:

The car will not start, but all dashboard lights/headlights will come on. No noise can be heard when turning the key to the START position. The car will have slow or labored cranking. Sometimes it will have just enough power to start the car, other times, it won't even crank.

I believe that it is on the front of the motor, towards the bottom, more towards the right side when looking at the engine from the front of the vehicle.
