Works Great at a Great Price

It's a starter. Install it, turn the key, it cranks the motor. That's all I expect from it, and that's exactly what I'm getting.

Purchased this in Aug 2013 when starter died in Tallahassee Fl. I taking my daughter to college. I did not have my tools so I paid $60 to get it towed to a local shop and paid $80 to install the starter I purchased from advance. It is now may 22, 2014 and the starter is not workly properly. Several times when my wife tries to start the car it does nothing so I have to tap it with a hammer and it starts. It is not an easy job to install so regardless of the lifetime warranty it is not a good deal if you have to replace it every 7 months. My suggestion is to find a better quality oem rebuilt starter.

Comments about CARQUEST Starter - Remanufactured:

I have a 2007 Honda Accord V6 which wouldn't start. All I heard (with the door ajar) was a click and the dashboard lights turning on. After some testing, I figured out it was likely not the battery. After some googling, it seemed like it could have been the starter.

I removed both the battery and starter and had it tested at Advance Auto and the battery turned out fine, but the starter did not look to be running smoothly (it did not spin rapidly). I bought this as a replacement, and the car started just fine.

I believe I spent $75 ish after discounts/core charge which is a pretty amazing deal. Hopefully I never have to replace this part again.

Comments about CARQUEST Starter - Remanufactured:

I have a 2007 Honda Accord V6 and my car refused to start. Seemed like it was not the battery since the lights on the dashboard would come on but all I heard was a click when I opened the driver door.

Tried everything to the battery but it didn't work so I figured it was the starter. Finally got it off, tested at Advance Auto and they verified with their machine it was broke (no rapid spinning). Replaced it with this and it started on its first try. Good stuff!

Used to replace my 2005 Honda Accord EX v6 starter. Worked great an absolute breeze to replace, less than 45 minutes in total. Reason for 4 stars and not 5 was where the battery terminal connects to the starter, was off by 180 degrees. I did not need to modify or change anything, its just the power cable had to be run slightly differently and therefore could not reattach the cable to the OEM hold down points, nothing a zip tie couldn't fix though.

Comments about CARQUEST Starter - Remanufactured:

Perfect replacement for 2006 Accord V6. HUNDREDS less than Honda part.

VERY easy to swap out. To replace, disconnect and remove battery, then plastic tray, which will leave a metal "shelf" for the battery. There are 4 bolts visible on top that need to conpletely come out. There are are also two bolts underneath the shelf, but these only need to be backed out 1/4" as the shelf just slides onto these; these bolts do not go through the shelf. Get the shelf out then its a piece of cake to remove the starter with two bolts and a couple connections.

                A:

Hi Dr. Feinstone, glad to assist you! This part comes with limited lifetime warranty. The lifetime warranty part can be refunded for cash/credit within the 90 days time frame. After that time expires, it can only be exchanged for a new item. So the warranty is valid the life of the part as long as the customer owns the vehicle.

When your engine won't turn over when you turn the ignition on, it may be because
                1. The battery is too weak,
                2. There is a problem with the battery cable and insufficient electricity is delivered by the battery cables to the starter and other devices,
                3. The solenoid is bad and won't turn on the starter motor or push the pinion out.
                4. The starter motor is burned out.

So if you test the battery, electrical connections are good and not corroded or loose, and everything else electrical works, then you are left with the solenoid and the attached motor. Most likely the motor is burned out or the solenoid is not functioning properly so you can't turn over your engine.

Once you have eliminated the electrical system/battery, then you have to start dismantling and getting the old starter/solenoid out. You can also test this with jumper cables to see if it works /spins the pinion.

              • A:

First obvious result is that the engine doesn't start. You check the battery and if it is 12.4 to 12.6 it is usually the starter. Another way to tell is if you listen carefully there is only one click when the engine doesn't start. If it is several clicks it's usually because of a weak battery.
