I have to say that this was a perfect fit. I usually order stuff online and promarily OEM products; however, my starter blew when I was at school. I knew it was my starter becaus3 it was a no crank no start situation and it would crank after a good 30 tries. Key wiggle didnt work, oil level was up to par, and battery was changed 2 months ago (lights were bright throughout). So I ordered it online for pick up and needed it in a pinch because this was examination week for me.

Went home, removed the air plumbing, and started to remove the starter. Removing the starter was the hardest part because it was factory OEM. Checked compatibility and they were similiar enough for me to install it. Fit perfectly. Tightened all the bolts, installed all the plumbing, started the far 3-4 times to test and and it was golden. Took about 30 minutes in total to install. The hardest part is to remove the super tight bolts.

It does take a little bit longer to start but it does crank. Thats all that matters anyways.

Tools Used:
3/8 ratchet
3 inch extension
14mm socket
17mm socket
10mm socket (battery)
Philips head screw driver (air plumbing)
Flat head screw driver (air plumbing)

I installed the first starter in about 30 minutes. My son drove the car that day and it quit that night in a town about 1 hour away. Spent half a day traveling back and forth getting it changed out again. The bendix wouldn't turn when it was tested in the store. Thankfully I didn't have to pay a mechanic to change this part twice !!

I was disappointed at the idea of not being able to pick the part up right away although that is what the site said. I waited a while at the store only to find out that the online order service does not allow you to pick up an item within an hour or so of ordering it. I had to purchase the product in store b/c I needed it immediately then I had to come back to get a refund for the 1st one I ordered.

The remove and replace for my 99 Nissan Maxima was fairly quick and painless. With starter mounted on top of engine instesd of at bottom of engine. Was a perfect fit and has been working great for several months now. It does make a different noise that stock starter when engaged. Once you get use to that all is well.

Over time, Nissan has increased the tooth count. the number of teeth does not matter on the correct starter. It's designed to prolong starter life. 11 teeth will fit.

I previously was looking to find out how many "teeth" this starter has. My vehicle is a 1996 Nissan Maxima VIN number JN1CA21D5TT701100. I've heard that my Starter should have eight (8) teeth.

I've just bought the WorldWide starter in my local NY Advanced Auto Parts store. And would like to know if this will work in my 96 Maxima, before I begin the work.
