Comments about CARQUEST Starter - New:

This starter did not fit properly . when installed the space was quite far from the flywheel so required to be shimed closer to get the proper gap. The original starter did not have these issues and was very quiet. when testing this new starter the noise got louder over 3 months. This is when I spent an hour rechecking the gap and the starter engagement .. with no success on the noise I returned the starter and installed the old starter . no shims gap good no noise. these starters have a problem with the machining of the housing it is wrong. also I believe that the armature is bent. I can not prove that but , The way it was operating leads me to believe this.
I had the store get me another starter NOT A GOOD IDEA ! What happened was after a day I went to pick it up and it was a returned banged up starter so I just cancelled the order and got my money back minus the taxes on the core return .

The store should check these parts when received for damage especially when the box is damaged as in this case !

Have seen and heard a lot about these starters with cracking the housings? I need durability and reliability, what happened to MADE IN USA!?

I understand your concern with the quality of the parts you put on your vehicle, I don't like having to replace parts more than once either. Advance Auto Innovations, LLC is the manufacturer of the ToughOne Starter and they are based out of Roanoke, VA.
