Installed in my work car which I drive 80 miles per day. Very reliable starter and works great. This starter has an upgrade over the factory starter which had a spade connection that was prone to corrosion. Very valuable upgrade. I am very satisfied with this starter ! I just wish it was made in America.

I've gotten the new Remy starter twice now, the first time lasted me quite a while until it decided to seize up tight and leave me stranded. However the second one I bought to replace it wouldn't disengage once I started the car, even after I turned the key off the gear stayed out and the starter kept spinning until I disconnected the battery. When I checked the starter the gear and it's bearing was stuck outside the housing until I popped it back in. I had it tested and the same thing happened there, so I returned it for what I thought would be another Remy starter. Instead I got a Chinese starter, still new, but not a Remy. The nuts on the motor were loose when I got it so I tightened them, installed it and no complaints so far. *knocks on wood*

Comments about CARQUEST Starter - New:

I put this in a 97 Ford Taurus. It bolted right up and worked right the first time. This starter replaced another one I got 10 months ago from a competitor. This one has a lot more power than that one ever had. As always time will tell how good it is, but with the limited lifetime warranty and a store with great customer service I am sure all will be fine.

Comments about CARQUEST Starter - New:

My 1999 Taurus was already wired with the improved ring connector for the "S" post, apparently from the factory. However, the "S" post on this new starter too large for the OEM connector (and metric threaded, too) which required splicing in the supplied new pigtail. Also, the new "S" post positioning made the original equipment red post cover on the old starter a little tricky to reinstall and it no longer covers the "S" post. I don't anticipate as being a problem since the new position is more protected from the elements anyway. Other than this, there were no surprises and I got the old one out and this one in at 1:00 AM with no problems.

So far, so good, and the wife reports much better starting. Good price, too, which also made her happy.

installed new remy starter part # 97127 for ford taurus 96 3.0 eng vin u. easy install ,placed new starter in and bolted it down. ignition wire terminal was moved to the upper side of the starter an improvement, from the bottom side. the wire is crimped to the exsisting wire that runs to the ignition. the battery + side cable, red, bolts on the new starter. was done then.cranked car ,super fast start.if installed properly not problem ,and no strange sounds as i read about in other reviews. they must have have some bad teeth on the fly wheel or didnt seat the new starter in right. would recommend this one easy install
