I replaced the all metal radiator in my 1987 GMC Suburban R1500 947:5.7L 350CI V8 FI VIN: K before easily with no problems. This replacement has plastic tanks on the ends and the metal crimps on top affect the rubber mounts. I had to cut the rubber mounts as instructed on the paper that comes under the radiator. I also had to hammer down the folded over tabs where the mounts go top and bottom. It still was a tight fit and took a number of times of putting in and taking out but the right side still sit a bit high. I had to crank down the mounts on top which crushes the extra top row of fins the paper claims "improves cooling" but is unnecessary and probably makes it fit another model easier. After finishing the install, I was surprised that the coolant came straight out of the bottom when I poured it in. I had it towed and worked on by my mechanic. He got the same one from advance, I'm pending him getting a refund on my first, and also had to crank down on the top fins, said all the new radiators are plastic now and don't fit right. The second one is working now, although mounted tightly and not a great fit like the original so I really don't think I damaged it and it was defective or weak to begin with. If you have the same model as me it's not going to be an easy weekend project. You could probably still do it and the radiator is probably still good for the price, but if your not experienced you might want to find a better fit or have someone else help.

Fits snug. Didn't want to mess with the plastic tanks and crack it. So had to install some washers under mounting brackets cause it's a tiny bit too tall.

      Comments about CARQUEST Radiator:

This radiator is promoted as being "designed and tested to meet or exceed OE specifications for form, fit, and function". Function is the only part of this statement that is correct. It is not an exact fit. The tanks are plastic and are crimped onto an aluminum core. The crimps prevent the top brackets bolting on correctly. I wish I had repaired my original radiator and saved the money I spent on this radiator. It was not and exact fit as advertised. Save your old radiator, you may be better off getting it repaired!

Almost fell out of the chair when I seen the price on this unit. (GOOD THING)
So I quickly ordered me a radiator, upon opening seen the side tanks are plastic? Most newer style are, Installed into my 20 year old truck and is working fine.
I am happy with this purchase.

        Comments about CARQUEST Radiator:

It is supposed to be a direct fit replacement for an 85 C10. In order to get it to fit, had to modify the fan shroud slowing installation time. Appears to be a good product, but be aware that you might need to make some mods to make it fit.

            Comments about CARQUEST Radiator:

This radiator is nearly a half inch too tall to fit a 1990 R1500 1/2 ton 2wd Suburban with 5.7L. It measures 21 inches where it sits in the rubber shocks and the old one was 20 and five eights. Cutting down the rubber shocks is not an option due to the fact that they are needed for shock absorption while driving.
