I always shop at advance , the staff is knowledgable and courteous. The radiator had some type of corroded micro holes ( about 8 ) on the front of the cores. The top mount was loose in the box which dented quite a few fins. Also The price at the store was even cheaper than the internet. MADE IN CHINA. I took it back and went to the competitor and got it for $149. Made in Canada. Honest, Now I will lbe checking prices at both places again.-Again, the staff are always good guys and understood. Better than the competitors staff.

      Comments about CARQUEST Radiator:

Good cheap radiator replacement. Been using over a month. New raditor includes slots for square nuts and two metric bolts.(instead of traditional self-thread into radiator) However, the bolts were a half inch too short, so I had to drive into town to get longer bolts. Most hardware stores don't carry metric bolts that long. Found them at the second store I stopped at. --1997 buick century custom

if your car calls for a 5/8 inch core will the 1 inch core work and bolt up the same on a 1999 Pontiac montana it not why

            1 answer

            • CUSTOMER CARE

              A:

Hi Barry, I would recommend you to use the 5/8 inch core your vehicle calls for. An oversized radiator most certainly will overcool the block. If the thermostat open at its rated temperature, the temperature will immediately drop upto 20 degrees. This is because so much surface area being cooled by air and the larger amount of coolant in the radiator, it is so cold by the time it gets to the motor, never give the engine a chance to stay at a proper operating temperature.

              A:

Replacing a radiator is pretty easy. Once both the radiator hoses are removed, as well as the radiator fan/schroud are removed, you may need to remove hold down bars that are on top of the radiator. The only other thing that you may need to remove are automatic transmission lines on some vehicles. Please remember to dispose of the coolant/antifreeze properly as it is hazard to the environment.
