After searching numerous web sites and making several calls, this was the best priced radiator that i could locate. The other sites and parts stores were all overpriced and were not very helpful. Everyone else i talked to wanted at least twice what i paid for that radiator and wanted to badger me about installation. They obviously had no faith in me installing the radiator myself, even though i told them i could install the radiator and have done so more than 100 times before. THis radiator was a breeze to install and i had in the car in less that twenty minutes and bled the coolant system in another five minutes. I would purchase this radiator from advance whenever i need one in the future for any of my other vehicles.

After reading other reviews on here I was almost afraid to use this product but all the other parts stores around only carried this same radiator, unless I wanted to fork over $500+ for a performance one. It went in easier than pulling the old one out and so far it's working great. I was expecting a fully plastic radiator as in other cars I've owned but the core is metal. It's got the cheap feeling plastic sides as is the norm for almost anything anymore but I'm pleased so far.

    Comments about CARQUEST Radiator:

Perfect fit for my 99 Subaru Legacy. Easier to install the new one than to remove the old one due to rusted bolts and bad hoses. It would have been easier to cut the hoses than try to remove clamps, since I ended up replacing the coolant hoses and transmission hoses anyway. Didn't figure this out until after struggling with clamps for too long.

        ferruled trans cooler line problem

        Comments about CARQUEST Radiator:

I have no idea why the upper transimission hose bib connection is not brazed or soldered. Instead it is a It is a ferruled connection. I am not sure how well such a connection will handle the stress of pushing the transmission cooler line on or if I need to pull it off at a later date.

To me it is a bad designe and will be prone to future leaks.

I'm tempted to not even install it.

          Comments about CARQUEST Radiator:

I had orginally ordered a radiator online for the 2.2 engine of a 96 Subaru. Not a fit since I was dealing with a 2.5 engine instead. Store employee, Pueblo, CO, was a big help in exchanging an online item, though I had to find a hot spot to order the replacement on the website to get the discount. The 2.5 radiator 200% better than for the 2.2 in quality and strength. Same price. Go figure.

                Comments about CARQUEST Radiator:

The price was very reasonable, but like many [*] products, the quality control is lacking. The radiator was bowed and the holes for the fan shrouds were slightly off. I had to spend time monkeying around to get the fans to fit (e.g., hogging out the holes in the shrouds). One of the holes was a centimeter off, and I had to use a zip tie to attach the shroud. Now that the radiator is installed, it works well.
