Replaced the factory radiator due to transmission cooler busting inside and leaking all the tranny oil into the coolant. Was very concerned about using an aftermarket radiator since I wanted an exact fit and all of the bolt holes to be there, unlike many others. It seemed like quite the task to get this done by looking at it and being my first time replacing it on this specific car. Was lucky to have found a video on 'you tube' that showed step by step removal of the old one on the exact same vehicle, this was the ultimate guide and cut the work in half! After removal, it was a breeze putting it back in by just reversing the steps... Only wish the outer casing was made of aluminum instead of plastic. However, it works perfectly and holding strong so far.

I used this radiator on my 2000 Plymouth Neon Automatic with a/c. It uses a single fan on the interior side of the radiator. This was listed as a "direct fit" for my car on this website.

Upon first inspection, everything seemed to look like it was a direct drop in, but once I had removed the stock unit the problems began to add up. The 4 mounting "posts" that hold the radiator in the car all lined up perfectly. None of the mounting holes to attach the fan shroud line up, so there is no way to affix it to anything at all. If you look at the bottom part of this radiator, the lower coolant hose and the spot for the transmission cooler line have been reversed, so the bottom hoses will need to be modified to fit. Not only that...but the new location of the lower coolant hose interrupts the seating of the fan shroud, so you must cut off one of the mounting feet on the fan and take of a couple smaller areas to even get it to fit.

On the front side, the a/c condenser brackets don't line up with the mounting holes on the new radiator. So basically you have no way to mount the condenser, the radiator, and the fan shroud to the car with any security. It will all stay in place, and it's snug, but not attached. Tomorrow I'm going to fab up some custom brackets to see if I can make it more secure.

Upon looking at the pictures from this site, it looks like part number "432310" has the correct mounting locations and does not invert the lower hoses. For about $5 more, it's a no-brainer to get this one instead. Fortunately for me I have the tools to modify existing parts; if you are not as lucky you will be stuck with a non functional car and a bucket of coolant and transmission fluid.

The good news is: it seems to work.

Fitment problems? Nah...

Comments about CARQUEST Radiator:

I was worried about fitment issues after reading a few bad reviews. I was working on a '04 Neon SXT with an auto and dual fans. Zero problems here and it went in with zero problems, other than Dodge making it a very tight fit (read PITA, but no fault of the radiator. My trans cooler failed, leading to antifreeze in the tranny...not good. Based on looking into the trans cooler lines, this type had a different design. Better or just cheaper? The jury is still out.

As long as YOU provide the proper information about YOUR vehicle you will get the right part the first time. It fit perfectly with NO modifications or alterations AT ALL. There are two different models for different set ups. this one is for the 2.0 Automatic! which is what I have.

                  Comments about CARQUEST Radiator:

Bought this to replace the original radiator in my 2001 Neon ES 2.0L W/4sp auto transmission.
Out of the box, it looked good. Hoses in the right place, mounts in the same place as original, so I went for it.
Fit was great until I found that the fan shroud mounts do not line up and that the upper hose yoke is too small. The website should state that this radiator is an ALMOST fit in my vehicle. Just different enough to make it unusable.

I bought this radiator for my 2001 Dodge Neon R/T because the website claimed it to be an exact fit. However, NOTHING lined up. None of the screw holes or fan slots. The lower radiator hose hook up was also in the wrong spot. Ended up returning it and going with the other radiator choice given. (Which worked perfectly)
