Good part, but not perfect

By

from Milwaukee, WI

Pros

  • Easy To Install
  • Factory fit

Cons

  • No hole for petcock

Best Uses

  • Everyday Driving

Comments about CARQUEST Radiator:

This is a GM/Harrison Delphi part, with the GM/Harrison cast-in names scratched off. Evrything was exactly like the original part, except for the petcock hole, which was molded closed. Looking at my original radiator after removing the old petcock, there is a "+" shaped hole into which the two part petcock fits. Teh replacement radiator has the area where the hole should be molded closed. I don't know if this hole was mistakenly not added to this part, if they all come this way, of if this was a rejected part by GM, purchased by an aftermarket company and re-sold as "good enough".

It's not going to be easy to drain the radiator the next time, but hopefully I won't need to. Just a heads up to check the petcock area if you buy this radiator.

Pros

  • Looks like quality part

Cons

  • Difficult To Install

Best Uses

  • Replacement

Comments about CARQUEST Radiator:

Unit did not fit properly. I was forced to make it work by installing the rubber mounting bushings upside down. This is not a proper installation. Unit was about a quater inch to wide. Otherwise a good looking replacement unit.
