I like the product (design/price/warranty) and it's working good. But I have a reservation on its design - it does not have a drain plug.

It will be very difficult to flush the radiator using the lower hose (as per instruction) esp. that I'm new to the DIY world.

I hope the manufacturer is going to rethink about the design.

It was a great radiator for the money, but once you factor in that there isn't a drain plug means flushing the system will be a pain in the rear, which isnt worth it in my book. I needed this for a 95 accord and if they didnt actually relize it, taking the bottom hose off the while the radiator is in the car is a real pain. I would not be getting another one of these down the line if i needed to. They need to do a little more R&D before selling anymore of these...hint look at a factory one and copy it.
Also, neither of the 2 "honda" radiator caps fit. I had to get one for a 91 Honda crx and still had to trim the radiator slightly to fit it.

As light as a feather. This was one of the easiest radiators to install fits like OEM. Everything just bolted on not like some Radiators with misplaced fan bolt holes.

      Comments about CARQUEST Radiator:

Purchased this radiator and when I pulled it out of the box saw that it had impact marks on the cooling tubes. Like a sharp metal object was dragged across it. Looked like leaks waiting to happen, so I took it back. Edison had no more in stock so I was sent to Piscataway, being told they had 1 in stock. Drove there and looked at their radiator and noticed the same sharp lines across the tubes too. As I turned it to inspect it further antifreeze spilled out! Installed, filled, drained and removed! I was told Dunellen had 3 in stock and drove there. They had another with the same sharp lines across the tubes as well as 2 others also in sealed boxes. One was OK, but without a drain so I took the last one, which had a drain. Trans cooler connections did not swivel though.
The slices on the radiators look like a factory problem, they were all in the same location. The lack of a drain is a negative too. I was glad that there was 1 good radiator in the bunch

            Comments about CARQUEST Radiator:

This radiator was a good fit for my 97 Accord, the only challenge was that one of the transmission nipples was just a little long (~1/4"), and so when the hose was connected it pushed slightly against a metal frame element, and that caused the radiator to sit just a little cockeyed on the bottom rubber boots. I don't think it'll be a problem (the radiator fit snuggly once the top brackets were installed), just different.

I did not have any problem with the drain plug or radiator cap as referenced in previous posts.

Does my 1997 Honda accord se engine f22B2 uses a denso or toyo radiator?

              • CUSTOMER CARE

                A:

I'm happy to help, Don! It looks as though the automatic transmission models utilized a Denso design and the manual transmission models utilized a Toyo design. This does not affect the aftermarket offering for your vehicle. This ToughOne or Ready-Rad Radiator will fit your 1997 Honda Accord SE F22B2. Many aftermarket designs become consolidated as it is unnecessary to manufacture two different radiators since the designs are very similar. Typically the difference is a transmission cooler. Most automatic transmissions will utilize one and manual transmissions do not.

I'd be happy to help you with that! The radiators do not come with the radiator cap. You would have to purchase the cap separately if it is needed.

Hi Sati, good question! If you are purchasing your item online you can take advantage of the online discount code to reduce the price of your purchase. However, you cannot use the online discount code at our store. I also want to inform you that if our online price is higher than your local Advance Auto Parts store’s price, your payment will be automatically reduced upon picking up your order in store. If you choose to have your order shipped, contact Customer Care and we will adjust your order to match your local store pricing. If our online price is lower than your local Advance Auto Parts store’s price, complete your order online to receive the lower price, or bring a printout of the online price to your local store and a store associate will match the price.

There's no stopcock valve on this radiator. I'm assuming that if you want to drain it you need to pull the lower hose. Otherwise everything seems to fit nicely.
