Used as a stock replacement for leaking factory radiator also replaced the hoses, water pump, fan clutch, and added a 180 degree thermostat at the same time. I read the previous reviews about poor fitment specifically with the lower transmission cooler line attachment and tried it anyway. Did not have any fit issues; everything went together as it should. I did have to use a utility knife to trim a sliver of plastic off the fill neck to allow my new radiator cap to fit, no problem, took about 10 seconds. I would definitely recommend this part as a good stock replacement

So far, this radiator is not leaking, so it's an improvement from what I had before, in that sense. Otherwise, this is the worst aftermarket part that I have installed in a long time. Every once in a while one might come across something that wasn't quite designed or built to OEM tolerances and it can usually be overcome with minimal frustration, but this radiator was a flat-out joke in that regard. The part shouldn't be represented as 'fitting' a Jeep Cherokee if I have to hack off part of the fan shroud bracket to allow the shrouds to fit, drill my own hole in the bracket to mount the trans cooler line brace, and then spend more time 'modifying' the body of the vehicle so that the lower ATF cooler fitting can allow the radiator to sit down in its mount. As it is, the fitting is resting up against the body, which is not ideal. If the fitting was bent either at more of an angle, or closer to the radiator, it would have been fine.

I'll admit that the bracket trimming is not difficult if the radiator is not in the Jeep, but I had already set it in and started to attach hoses, etc. to it, and didn't want to have to remove it, modify it, and then re-install(why should I have to anyways?!!!?).

Bottom line, I had to put a new radiator in a vehicle with which I was already familiar, so I budgeted a couple of hours, max, to get it done and it ended up taking a lot longer because of this garbage, so plan on at least an extra hour, if you're lucky enough to read the warnings on the wall before you plunk down the cash. I did not, and paid for it with my time.

You tricked me this time ReadyRad, but never again.

      Comments about CARQUEST Radiator:

This radiator looks like it fits, and it almost does. If you have three hours to do a one hour job, and you don't mind some extra work making it fit in your vehicle, then this part is for you! Had to cut out some of the inner fender to accomodate the transmission cooler pipe and move the air box so there would be enough room for the filler neck. Be sure to stop on your way home from the parts store for beer and band-aids.

Its a nice new radiator but I had to take the top plate off the old one and drill holes in it to fit the new one because the new one did not have supports for the air conditioner cooler.

We installed this radiator in a 2001 Jeep Cherokee. It fit with no issues. I read negative reviews about the installation and fit in jeeps. You do not have to reinvent the wheel to install this radiator.

this was an emergency fix when the old radiator blew. Ordering and pickup was easy. The part was slightly diffferent than the original, but with one phone call to Avance I was comfortable in installing this product. It was relatively easy to install and I've had no problems since putting it in.

this product was exactly as described - an exact fit. no alterations had to be done in my case. the most difficult part was replacing the oe hose clamps. be sure to have a pair of large channel locks. removing the transmission cooler line wasn't so bad. follow the already mentioned advice of others that posted reviews on this. just remember push then pull for removing and push until you feel or hear a click when reinstalling. both of which were not the fault of the radiator. I broke the head off of corroded bolt. be sure to use penetrant if you think it's more difficult to remove than it should be

                  Comments about CARQUEST Radiator:

The good news the hoses and trans cooling lines were an exact fit for me the bad news there are three studs on top of the radiator. One was used to attach and hold the AC condenser with a little mod. I just cut one off and got rid of it all together then I had to drill a new hole where the top mounting plate is for the radiator. This was not the hardest or worst job that I have ever had to do, but for an avg joe like me, it upset me when i was expecting and oem exact fit,so much for that. I had to let my trans cooling line dangle as other people have mentioned. Just took alot longer to install than I was planning on, took me about four hours because of cutting off studs and drilling new holes, so if your not afraid to make a few new holes in your jeep this will work but not if your in need of an exact fit. My suggestion see how much the dealer wants for the part and carefully look at the old one when you take it out to make sure your not going to have to change anything, otherwise at least I am not running around the 210 temp anymore. I am around 190 and that's the thermostat i put in fro more heat in cold winter temps.

Installed this radiator back in July,it has since developed a leak. There's a port above the lower rad hose thats isn't used on my jeep, and I noticed the o- ring is blown out and the source of my leak. My question is, is the o- ring replaceable and if so is there a special tool as there seems to be a hex shaped socket in the plastic plug. Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Does it matter which direction the transmission oil flows through the radiator? I.e. Can the hot side be in the top or bottom of the radiator.

Yes, Bobby! The top line is the higher pressure line coming from the transmission (hot fluid), and the lower line (cooler oil, lower pressure) goes back to the transmission.

This radiator is the OEM replacement, it is formed to be like the one that comes on the car from the factory. People commonly do not take enough loose for the proper installation and will retrofit to save some time. With proper disassemble the part will fit fine. Hope this helps.
