Comments about CARQUEST Radiator:

This I only have used in my truck that I rarely drive.
Install way simple as just about any radiator in a truck would be. The trans cooler connections were a little hard to connect, but with any connections like that they are. I couldn't get the fan shroud to line up without hitting the fan occasionally. I believe it to be a fitment flaw.

Within 2 years of purchasing it is leaking at the side seals half way down on the cap side. I would not purchase again. Also my local Advance closed so there is no way to see if I could get a replacement locally.

Comments about CARQUEST Radiator:

I purchased this to replace the leaking one in my 600$ beater truck. The part is very light, but I had no problems with leaks on the unit itself. (Tip: Replace the lower hose while your at it and save the future hassle.)

The only trouble I had with this part was the lower transmission coolant coupling would not mate up with the OEM one on the truck even though it looked exactly the same. (Bad thread maybe?) I swapped it out with the one on the old radiator and everything went smoothly from there. The top one went in without a hitch.

Be sure you keep the upper (mounting) clips from your old radiator so you can bolt it in. For some reason they didn't come with the new one but it's no big deal; you simply need a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove them and they clip right on.

Time to replace in my 5.0L : 1.5 hours including draining / refilling and messing around with the fan guard.

Poor Quality

  • Inexpensive

Cons

  • Difficult To Install
  • Poor Fit

    Comments about CARQUEST Radiator:

The price was very good, but fit was very poor. The radiator was actually curved, though not so severely it would not fit in the existing location, but only because this radiator is much thinner. Additionally the tab locations for mounting the fan shroud prevent installation of the shroud. And finally the transmission cooler fittings would not fit the cooler. I had to go spend another fifty dollars to get an aftermarket tranny cooler. It would have been cheaper, and less time wasted buying a different radiator. Three trips to the store later, I finally have everything working. I would not recommend this radiator.

    Comments about CARQUEST Radiator:

The only problem in installing the radiator was the top transmission line fitting did not match, so had to buy an adapter at another auto parts store. The store where I bought the radiator had no clue what to do to correct the problem. The other store counter person knew exactly what was needed.I had seen from past reviews that the fitting might not match, so Advance Auto should look into this.
