Got these to replace my original coil plug boots which were cracked. They look just like the original. They went in without a problem. So far no problems with them.

My boots are cracked. Does that make a difference in power to the vehicle? Or will that make the vehicle idle rough?

                  A:

Hi Brockalok, glad to serve you! Often, particularly on high mileage engines, driveability problems such as missing or hesitation become evident and sometimes a costly ignition coil will fail. A replacement of the damaged insulator boots can go a long way to solving driveability problems and you may save failure of your expensive ignition coils. We recommend that spark plugs are checked, and replaced if necessary, at the time you replace the boots. Please understand at this time it is not known how many engines will suffer this problem, but if you are experiencing missing and hesitation (particularly on a high mileage engine where you have not changed the spark plugs for a while) then you may need to replace these boots. However, I would suggest that you take your vehicle and get it thoroughly checked by a certified mechanic before buying any parts that may/may not solve the problem.

                  A:

I'm happy to help, GB! There is no input voltage required for Autolite Professional Series Ignition Coil On Plug Boot (Part No. 50001-1). This is only a coil on plug boot and there is no coil included. The replacement ignition coils (BWD Part No. E95P or E95, Driveworks Part No. 26210, Delphi Part No. GN10176 or Richporter Part No. C-562) for your 1987-2002 vehicle with the GM 2.3L L4 or 2.4L L4 engine will require a 12V input.

              • Q:

Do I need to chnage ignition coil on plug boot when I change out spark plugs at 100000 miles spark plug change on GM 2.4 Liter engine?
Asked on 10/1/2012 by Patrick E from Ottawa oh

                • CUSTOMER CARE

                  A:

The ignition coil replacement is necessary if the engine starts to skip or misfire. When this happens, the check engine light will flash on. The ignition coil lasts a long time. You have to change the factory recommended spark plugs when your service book recommends. The platinum tipped plugs are usually good for 50,000 miles, the iridium plugs last 75,000 miles and the regular spark plugs are good only for 25k to 30k miles. For any further assistance, please feel free to call us at 1-877-238-2623 or visit your nearest Advance Auto Parts store and one of our representatives would be more than happy to assist you.
