This starter was installed into a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0L 6cyl. The orientation of the starter puts it right underneath the oil filter, and on many of these 6 cyl Jeeps, there is an oil leak that drips right onto the starter, killing it. The body, soleniod, and wire,on the remanufactured starter, are all sealed with silicone. This helps to keep out oil and water and any moisture that might get into the starter and destroy it. The original starter didn't have any sealer on the body and oil seeped in and caused it to seize up one very cold morning. This starter also came with a limited lifetime warranty, so if it dies ANY TIME within the life of the vehicle it will be replaced FREE.

Did not last

Comments about ToughOne Starter - Remanufactured:

I Installed this starter on a 97 Cherokee and was initially pleased. It turned quickly and I was on the road again. Over time, it began cranking slower and slower until it finally wouldn't budge and left me waiting for a tow truck. Spend the extra few dollars on a NEW starter and save yourself the trouble of changing it twice.

Comments about ToughOne Starter - Remanufactured:

I own two jeep grand cherokees and will do simple repairs if I have a good idea of what is needed. My 1995 jeep was not starting until I tried several times. Just would make one click sound and then nothing. The battery and alternator are new. I guessed the starter was bad. After reading my repair guide, looked like an easy fix. The replacement part from Advance fit perfect. The final cost was less than (after core refund) trying to diagnose the problem. I am so pleased that I may buy a spare starter for my other jeep.

I had a starter dragging on my 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0L 6Cyl. I ordered online and picked up with no problems. This starter looked exactly like the factory original starter I removed. My Jeep starts up very well now and encountered no issues.

Comments about ToughOne Starter - Remanufactured:

The OEM starter on my 189k Jeep was only turning at maybe 1/3 the regular rate, and this one was available in my local Advance store. Ordered online, pottered down to the store and picked it up, with 35% off, thank you Advance online.
Fit was good, the threaded hole was a little stiff (probably because it had been sand blasted) but run a bolt down it a couple of times and it was fine.
Swapping the starters over took 25 minutes, fit was great, and I didn't even cut myself or break nails.

                        A:

With reference to your inquiry on the Autocraft Battery Acid - part# CYCLE ACID, not all 12 volt batteries actually use acid. Lead/acid storage batteries do, however, and in those the acid is generally 4-5 molar sulfuric acid. "How much" acid depends on the volume of the battery. Some batteries are physically larger than others but for a rough figure you can assume that somewhere around 30% of the liquid by mass is sulfuric acid. For any further assistance, please feel free to call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto Parts store and one of our Parts Pros will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.

It depends upon the skill level of the person performing the operation. For installation, I would recommend purchasing a repair manual.

It sounds as though you either have the battery cable hooked up to the wrong terminal on the starter or the starter relay is stuck closed.
