Original rad needed replacement due to top tank seal leakage at 14 years & 81,000 miles. This new rad does the trick at a reasonable price, but you get what you pay for. I was able to make it fit, but two details prevented it from being a 100% drop-in in my 1998 Jeep Wrangler (TJ) 2.5L i-4 / MTX 5-spd: (1) The side brackets included to mount it to the front-end module are quite thin gauge steel and flexible, allowing the entire unit to slightly sag under the weight of the rad & shroud & coolant & hoses, causing some shift to the position of the rad fan shroud relative to the engine-mounted cooling fan blades, and (2) the mounting locations provided for the rad fan shroud are slightly shifted, causing additional shift relative to the rad fan. The result in my case was fan contact to the top portion of the rad fan shroud. My chosen fix was to slice-away some of the shroud to provide clearance, an unfavorable alternative since that deteriorates the cooling capacity of the fan for pulling air thru the rad. Hopefully a minor tradeoff. The factory original side support brackets could not be transferred to the new rad to help avoid half the problem, since the bracket attachment to the rad itself is completely different between the orig & this new rad. Another observation that could be a problem for some, is that the rad cap fitting "neck" length is longer than the factory rad, driving the installed rad-cap towards the underside of the hood by about 25 mm. Good thing it still fit (barely) my Jeep's package, or this rad would have had to be returned as a no-fit. Note that since I have a MTX, I did not have to use the ATX trans cooler feature on this rad, so I did not get to find out if there are location issues with trans line fitment. Otherwise, all else was OK, but as you inspect this thing, you realize why the "price was right".

Comments about ToughOne or Ready-Rad Radiator:

Installed to replace radiator with very small leak. Suddenly jeep started running hot at highway speeds. Thought it was related to using A/C which I started doing at the same time of installation. Changed cap, hoses, and thermostat with no help. Still thinking "new" radiator so it can't be the problem. Reinstalled old radiator just to see and heating issue disappeared. This radiator is inadequate for 6 cal straight drive. Think I will go OEM. Hoping I can return this one.

Use only in a quick fix situation. Radiator lasted 8 months before it started leaking again. Typical leak where top plastic tank seals to aluminum body. Replacing with solid metal one this time.

The fit was very good and made for an easy install. It even had holes to reuse for the fan shroud. Some other reviews I had read on other brands said the could not reuse the self tapping screwes and had to buy bolts. After installing and driving I have noticed improved gas mileage..

I needed a radiator for my 99 wrangler and needed it fast so I read some reviews about this radiator and thought for the price I will give it a try. I called the parts store and they had 1 in stock so I picked up what I needed and went to work on the jeep. All went very well with the install and fit nice, the only advise I would give would be to run your mounting screws into the mounting flange to cut threads in it before you install it in the vehicle that will save you a lot of time and grief .

I'm happy to help, Troy! When installing this CARQUEST or ToughOne Radiator (Part No. 431512) the rubber o-rings supplied with the oil cooler adapters need to be installed into the oil cooler assembly fittings before attaching the oil cooler adapters. Failure to install these o-rings before attaching the oil cooler adapters will cause the adapters to not seal correctly and the potential for a leak can occur. I have included the tech tip in an attachment sent to your e-mail address.

Hi Joe, good question! The lifetime warranty part can be refunded for cash/credit within the 90 time frame. After that time expires, it can only be exchanged for a new item. So the warranty is valid the life of the part as long as the customer owns the vehicle.

Yes, this Ready-Rad radiator fits your 1999 Jeep Wrangler.

Below is the steps to install this radiator

                      1. Lower the radiator into position behind the core support. Be careful: the cooling fins are thin and can be easily damaged.
                      2. Screw the bolts that secure the radiator into the core support. Tighten with a socket.
                      3. Thread the transmission cooler line fittings into the radiator. Tighten with a wrench.
                      4. Slide the lower radiator hose onto the fitting on the bottom of the radiator. Slide the hose clamp over the fitting and tighten with a Phillips head screwdriver.
