Looking at the manufacture and reviews did not inspire confidence. Doin my buddy's '01 Cherokee w/ 200K+ so its not getting the $200+ OEM. Ive done every tough one you can think of. In all fairness - Some of the comments I saw I suspect are self-inflicted issues.

To the manufacturer;
FOAM SHOULD BE INCLUDED. I mean really - how much would a 2-foot strip cost? The old one always gets wiped out because - duh - the core leaked.

To installers;

When you split the case - you will have to deal with the blend door, which has its pivots in the upper and lower half of case. Take care when splitting the case and note how it is oriented because it will fall out/in, and unless you know - you may re-install it incorrectly. I set the box on an open trash can oriented as it sits in vehicle to work on case. Its a PITA to get blend door back in right, but take the actuator off first and you can hold shaft of blend door flap by hand to keep it vertically aligned to get case back together. IF you have to force case back together - something is wrong.. and you'll have to go back in and correct it or you will have to repeat 5+ hr job. Make sure the blend door moves freely after you reassemble case and before you stick it back in. Its worth extra time to get it right. "There is never time to do things right, but always time to do it over..."

IMHO, the foam is important. It forces all the air THROUGH the core, and mitigates premature failure, preventing it from banging around, beating up the core and stressing the tubes. I cursed them for not including it and anyone who doesn't. Since I didn't get it, I happened to have some foam material I cut thin strips and glued them around the core with weather strip adhesive. A little trim and the new core fit nicely.

On mine, the screw hole on the securement bracket for tubes did not quite line up. I made a new hole rather than force it.

Those who complain of poor flow or heat most likely;
A - have a blend door actuator prob - I find these get contaminated with coolant and get weak. unbolt it and manually turn the blend door one way or other. One way is full hot, other is full cold.

B - You didnt get the blend door in right when you reassembled the case. see above. If you cant turn the shaft of the blend door when you drop the actuator, guess what?... The blend door is not correctly installed. You either got it on the wrong side of the wall, or you didnt get the pivot points right. You get to do whole job again.

C - Not quite as hot? no/not enough foam. or see D.

D - Engine running too cool. I see most of these with the temp needle right around 200-210F with 130-140degF output at the vents.

B - have either not/incorrectly installed foam.

        Did not come with the OEM gaskets which wrap around the outside. Otherwise it was an easy install (after gutting the dashboard of course).

        This piece fit perfectly. The only thing missing was a new foam seal that completely covers the edges of the heater core.

        Comments about CARQUEST Heater Core:

        This doesn't fit in the 2000 TJ box correctly. Also, I drove around with it 15 degrees F here in Massachusetts and it could not keep the Jeep cab warm. It was correctly installed.

        The heat from the OEM heater core is around 140 degrees from the vent. This aftermarket is around 82 degrees from the vent.

        Do not buy this if you live in the northern/cold climates.

            Comments about CARQUEST Heater Core:

            This product is an extremely tight fit into a Jeep TJ heater box. It is larger then the OEM. The tubes are not bent correctly and you need to bend them yourself. I was barely able to close the heater box over it.

            This heater core doesn't give off enough heat for 15 degree nights here in the Northeast. I checked the blend door and made sure everything was working. The other night, my girlfriend and I were freezing returning home with this core installed.

            The OEM has many more fins. It is also about 55 degrees hotter then this aftermarket one. Save yourself the aggrevation and spring for the OEM.

                The heater core is functioning properly. But the inlet and outlet tubes were not bent exactly right. I had to bend the tubes by hand and it was a tight fit into the HVAC case.
