Will not fit a 1997 Lumina as listed.

Comments about CARQUEST Heater Core:

This part will NOT fit a 1997 Lumina. The core is the same size, and the tubes do end up in the same place, but the large tube exits from the front of the core tank instead of at an angle like the original. The heater housing goes in front of the tank, so the tube can't be there. Unfortunately the tubes can't be exchanged since they are bent differently, and the tank is different too. Note that changing this part is not a job for amateurs!

      Comments about CARQUEST Heater Core:

The coolant inlet and outlet tubes not installed on this item. Snap ring pliers needed to insatll snap rings which hold inlet and outlet tubes in place on the core. Unforturnately for me the "O" rings which need to be installed with the tubes were missing from the sealed package. Advance had no problem supplying s replacement kit but it was not until the next day. The missing "O" rings were the fault of the manufacturer not Advance. It is easy to read to contents list in the plastic bag so I suggest checking the contents in the bag for 2 snap rings, 2 "O" rings and 2 different tubes before leaving the store or starting the repair. Snap ring pliers not included and be sure you have a pair to use.

      Comments about CARQUEST Heater Core:

The heater core was a perfect fit and good quality. Installation on a 1995 Grand Prix is challanging. I have installed heater cores before and on this model car I had to search the internet for instructions. Took about 30 minutes to find someone who had detailed instructions with pictures. As auto's become more complex to work on the home mechanic can continue to "Do It Yourself" by using a search on the internet. Next time I will save the on line address so I can put it in my feedback comments.

Removal of the heater core usually requires removing the dashboard. For step by step directions, I recommend finding a repair manual for your specific vehicle. This manual should give you step by step instructions on how to replace the heater core.
