      Comments about CARQUEST Heater Core:

Had to replace my evaporator so common sense said to replace the heater core at the same time. It was a pain to remove the dash and HVAC box but the heater core installation was easy after that and I saved a ton of money doing it myself. Advance had the lowest price once I ordered online. Much easier to do in the summer that if it failed in the winter.

        Comments about CARQUEST Heater Core:

after numerous attempts to find someone to install a heater core, I decided to tackle the job myself. Along with the help of my nephew, we removed the entire dashboard before we were able to remove the heater core assembly and once we did, the heater core itself fit right in as it was designed to. Putting the dashboard back together was a long task but we took digital pictures as we dis-assembled so we knew where all the wires went and replacing the dashboard was not as difficult as I had anticipated. We completed the job in 8 1/2 hours; not bad for 2 guys who had never done this type of repair before. The book called for 7.5 shop hours ( for 1 mechanic) and the 2 of us did it in 8 1/2 with no prior experience and it works WONDERFULLY! I have heat now!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so glad that Advance Auto made it possible to order this item online as it made my task much simpler. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the end result!!!!!!

That's a great question though! The tube in the Heater Core that connects to the hose is supposed to rotate, it is normal.

On some vehicles, installing a heater core can be very difficult for a "Do it yourself" mechanic. For the best possible help and instruction on installing a heater core, I recommend visiting your local Advance Auto Parts store and picking up a Haynes repair manual for your vehicle. This manual will give you step by step instructions on how to replace your heater core.

the heater core in a 99-06 Chevy Silverado trucks is around a seven hour ordeal book time the dash has to come out and the a/c system has to be drained because the air box has to come out of the truck as well to get to the heater core access on the top of it

It helped alot. You dont have to take the dash all the way off.
