Junk! Don't waste your time!

By

from Parkersburg WV

Comments about CARQUEST Fuel Pump Sender Assembly:

I went through the process of dropping my fuel tank, removing the old sending unit, had a bad float. Installed new unit, wrestled the tank back in to place. Put 10 or so gallons of fuel in the tank. Gauge worked fine. Hooray. Proceeded to drive down the road, and the truck started stumbling, and was starving for fuel. Apparently the brand new unit had a defective fuel pump. Not the kind of product you want to keep trying till you find one that works. Airtex needs to perform quality control. JUNK!

Works, but fuel gauge is wrong

Comments about CARQUEST Fuel Pump Sender Assembly:

The fuel pump assembly fit fine and the pump funcitons ok. But the gauge shows dead empty when there is still 5 or 6 gallons of gas in the tank, and will never show Full. This is rather annoying, but not worth taking the tank back out to fix.

      My 3rd Fuel Pump

Comments about CARQUEST Fuel Pump Sender Assembly:

Bought a bosch pump assembly to replace the broken factory unit. The Bosch in-tank pump seized up within weeks. Traded it under warranty for this Airtex sending unit, which promptly stopped working as well. It ran strong in a container of fuel before completing installation, so it's likely bad truck wiring. Be sure to test the fuel gauge before bolting the tank back up.

If you have the longer 8 foot bed, the front (midship) tank should be 19 gallons.

          • A:

You can turn on the key without starting the vechile and leason for the hissing or pumping of the pump in the tank. You may need help from a friend you can trust to turn the key to the on possion (but DO NOT CRANK IT) while you are under the vechile feeling the tank an leasoning for the pump to ingage. Have them do it many time to may sure of what you are hearing, cause the high pressure main pump will also ingage up front on the drivers side on the frame behind the fuel filter.
