I had to replace this fuel pump twice, within two months. Advanced auto swapped one for one which was great. After the second fuel pump, i had pressure to my fuel rail and my injectors. If you ever experience a hard start whether the temp. is cold or hot, and it takes you 4 to 8 times to start your vehicle, it's because of your fuel pump or not enough fuel pressure going to your fuel rail. it is of good nature to purchase a fuel pressure gage to actually show you what is going on in your fuel system, this helps a lot which plays a significant role in trouble shooting. IMO. I drive a 97 Dodge Grand Caravan. I kept trouble shooting the cause, on a daily basis, because it was getting so cold. When i figured it was the Fuel Pressure Regulator causing the hard ach, i was upset, but relieved that i didn't have to replace the fuel injectors, it is best to replace the pump than the injectors. If you need assistance with your van, let me know, since now i am an expert with this product.

I was very leary to purchase this Airtex pump not good reviews But I was swayed by low price. Put first one in gauge did not register correctly and pump quit afer just 5 mins at idle. had to drive other car to next closest store the next day to "exchange". I replaced fuel filter assy. and put Seafoam in tank after replacement. Cleaned out tank as well hardest part was getting pump out of tank the "ring" is big! wish I had some sort of pipe strap wrench to use I had giant channel locks that worked!!! also clean the ring and opening on tank before reinstall and follow all directions and instructions.

Pros

  • Pump assembly matched oem.

Cons

  • O-ring awkward, but does not leak.

Best Uses

Comments about CARQUEST Fuel Pump Module Assembly:

Pump assembly matched oem perfectly so that fit was fine. The o-ring has been updated to one that is more square. Took a little more time to fit without twisting than a standard o-ring would have, but if it provides a better seal that is ok.
Installed in a '97 Grand Caravan. Doesn't have to last as long as original. 3-4 years will do it.
(Pretty easy access. Jacked and supported right side of vehicle. Only removed bolts securing straps on the right side of tank. Tank will rotate enough to get pumps swapped.)

Problem and fix for fuel sender

Comments about CARQUEST Fuel Pump Module Assembly:

I had problems with fuel level gauge bouncing up and down and the low fuel bell dinging constantly. I replaced with a new one and still the same issue, especially below 3/4 tank. I did the re-soldering of bad pin on cluster and that didn't fix it as this is another issue with Caravan/ Town and Country. The fix was to bend the pins where the floating arm makes better contact with the side of the pump. (found a video online and couldn't believe this would work but it did) You should be able to feel the pins contacting when moving, the way it was out of the box the pins where barely touching. The pump itself works great. I am rating only 2 stars because sender is part of this package and adjustments need to be made to make this work.

Comments about CARQUEST Fuel Pump Module Assembly:

Installed it and all seemed well, except for the humm and buzz noise the original didnt make. Used it 6 months then the fuel guage started popping up and down. Now Im smelling gasoline and thats when I decided to get a new one. Im working Advanced Auto chat now to get a refund and buy a more expensive one.

Comments about CARQUEST Fuel Pump Module Assembly:

Waste of money and time! Typical installation and worked great at first. After a few months, it started flashing/alarming low fuel intermittently then getting more and more frequent. At the end, it alarmed constantly and gauge started going up and down..just had to replace, it was driving me nuts! Spend more money and safe the trouble.. buy Bosch or Denso.
