Unit fit like original, with the exception of the wire harness, needing to be spliced in. Have since taken 1 roadtrip, and found out the float not accurate. Low fuel light did not come on until gauge was reading below 1/8 of a tank. Original unit set light off at about 1/4 of a tank. Will have to watch the trip odometer closely.

Tested it out of the box, and it fired right up. Install was a little tricky, GM changed wiring harness (new one included); had to do a little splicing. The position tab on the pump was a little bigger than the original, but nothing a little shave with a razor blade couldn't fix :) Drive on!

use for newer plastic gas tanks

Comments about CARQUEST Fuel Pump Module Assembly:

Purchased this fuel pump for my 1998 Chevrolet blazer 4x4 4 door with automatic transmission and a 4.3 liter v6 engine. My blazer had the older style steel gas tank which aledgadely this pump was supposed to fit. This pump does not work for that style tank, it has a different seal the one for the older steel tanks is an o ring the one that comes with this pump is more like a sleeve which would probably be fine for the newer plastic gas tanks. Also the underside of the top lid is flat for use with the sleeve style seal I needed one that had a raised lip on the underside for use with the oring. Looks like a good quality parts though!

Comments about CARQUEST Fuel Pump Module Assembly:

Bought this for my 2000 blaaer 4WD LS 4 door. After paying my mechanic to install it all hell broke loose! The pumps pressure was borderline on the low side. It would start the vehicle but would not let it accelerate. As soon as you gave it gas it would die out. After trying several things to alleviate the problem he finally put in another fuel pump from NAPA. This one worked flawlessly. I'm out $150.00 for the second installation and Advance Auto Parts could care less. Devon, at the Belle Vernon PA Store said that if I was a Big company that they dealt with that he could give me some compensation for the labor, but not me. Do not buy this pump...I repeat...Do not buy this pump!!!!

Comments about CARQUEST Fuel Pump Module Assembly:

I paid $210.00 to have it installed now a year later having to pay again. The warranty replaced it but I have to pay again to install it because Advanced Auto sells Inferior part's and thinks replacing it is all they need to do. I think they need to sell parts that are made of high quality not junk. I would not have put this junk back on my car but I had to take it or just be out the money. That's Just WRONG!!!!!!

It could be a number of things causing this. Unfortunately we are unable to diagnose what is wrong with your vehicle without being able to be there with your vehicle. We highly recommend taking your vehicle to a reputable shop to have them take a look at it to determine the cause.

                    A:

Check the pressure against what is specified in your manual. Generally, a vehicle needs between 30 and 80 psi in order to run smoothly, but your vehicle may be different. If you pressure matches what is the manual, then your fuel pump is working correctly.

It may not be necessary. Issue with the gauge is most likely an electrical issue. Still need to drop the tank to check the lead so if you have alot of miles on the vehicle, it might be a good preventitive step to replace the module. It is a $250 part, though, so that's pretty expensive prevention.
