I rented a tool from Advance to help install. The tool was worn out and would not fit the application, it was useless. Fan clutch once installed did not work. Found out that five of the last nine sold there were returned. Purchased one at orielys and it worked fine. It was 10.00 more but worth it to not have to play parts swapper with "NEW" parts. I know it can happen but very disatisfied with this brand.

Tried 6 new ones, 3 from Car Quest, 1 AA, 1 AZ,1 Oreilys all bad. Non would engage and caused overheating. All the same manufacturer from TX.
Tried 3 from Junk Yard. Same problem.
Ended up taking one from my other Blazer which worked perfect. If they roar for 5 minutes on startup they should be good. None of these would roar at all. Do not recommend. Buy GM.

Comments about CARQUEST Fan Clutch - Severe Duty:

I replaced two of these within two weeks. Neither would disengage. I purchased this same part 5 years ago and got 5 years out of it. Went with the GM part and had no issues. Most likely the store I purchased from got a bad shipment or it was a bad production run in general. If your Blazer sounds like a jet engine that is not normal, it means the clutch isn't disengaging and you should return it.

Easy to install. The nut that holds the fan blade is mated to this part. Don't forget a dab of threadlock.

it will vary by vehicle. Typically it is opposite the rotation of the fan while the engine is running. Most are left hand threads.

In order to find the temparture the fan is suppose to kick in at on your vehicle, we will need some of your vehicle information. To better assist you, we request that you contact us at 1-877-ADVANCE.

              • A:

With fan clutches, there is no specific temperature where it goes from "off" to "on". The fluid inside it make a gradual change as the coolant warms up and engages the fan more as it's needed.
