Q:how do check clutch to see if its bad?
A:One easy way is to check it with the engine off. With the engine off open the hood and try and turn the fan counter clockwise. If it doesn't move then the clutch should be good, but if it does move freely in both directions, then the clutch is most likely bad.
Q:if this part is bad would it cause my 1994 Ranger to run hot with air on and stopped at a red light or just idling
A:Yes, this could cause your vehicle to run hot when idling or stopped at a red light if the fan is not turning on.
