Fuel pump when out on me in the Ranger on my way home from work one cold evening. I replaced it with this pump a few days later. Fired right up and has been running fine ever since. Been about 6-8 months now. Easy to change too. You don't need that whole assembly if it's just the pump that went. Glad I listened to people otherwise I would have wasted [$]!!

Comments about CARQUEST Electric Fuel Pump:

This product worked well and all nesessary hardware was in the box fixed my problem the first time, Instruction were easy to follow, this product will fit other applications because they supply a large quantity of hardware and seals not needed for mine. The lifetime waranty is a big plus. This is easy for even a first timer to follow, andsucessfuly install. makes doing a hard task easyer because everything fits and is easy to follow working with the original application. I would recommend this to anyone wishing to do thier own work.

Even though website says this is an exact fit, it would not fit my '95 Ford Explorer 4Dr. The pump would not line up straight with the outlet tube of my old housing, would only go on at a slight angle. I returned and purchased Part No. E2059MN, which has the pump already in the housing.

Good question, Lazy! The part #E2471 will be a replacement fuel pump for your vehicle, but it will be mounted inside of the fuel tank, not outside. To replace the fuel pump in this vehicle the fuel tank will need to be removed to replace it.

                              A:

With reference to this Airtex Electric Fuel Pump - part# E2471, the fuel pump on your Mazda 626 ES is located inside the fuel tank on this vehicle and will require removal of the tank to replace. Make sure you empty out the tank, so you can clean the tank before installing the new fuel pump, you don't want any debris or anything that may have caused the old fuel pump to go to get into the new pump. Use a cleaner that wont leave a residue. Replacing the fuel pump on this vehicle depends on the skill level of whoever is removing or replacing the part. Some may have a harder time than others who have experience. I would recommend purchasing a Haynes repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts. For any further assistance, please visit your nearest Advance Auto store or call us directly at 1-877-ADVANCE (238-2623) and one of our representatives there would be more than happy to assist you.

The problem may be with the fuel pick-up line in your tank. Check your fuel pick-up line in your tank to see if it is damaged and also check that the fuel guage is working properly and the breather vent on the fuel tank. The Airtex Electric Fuel Pump part number E2471 will require the separate purchase of a flow check valve as it is not provided with the replacement fuel pump. Airtex does offer flow check valves such as Part Number CV8000, which is used in E8120 & Universal Mechanical & Electrical fuel pumps.

I have a 2000 Nissan Frontier after driving it for a while it will not accelerate, after letting it sit for an hour or so it would start back but then do the same thing, now it will only crank if I put gas in the carburetor but when the gas burns out it will cut off again. Could it be my fuel pump?

Yes, the fuel pump may be the problem. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.
