This item was the proper replacement for my worn CV shaft. I was a little concerned with the negative reviews on this product, but I'm stubborn and couldn't argue with the price. With the replacement of some additional front-end suspension components, the Jetta's riding like new. Functionally, I have no complaints. It's a perfect OE replacement. If I could add one request to the dream sheet, it would be replacement mounting hardware for the transaxle connection.

I wish I would have listened to the other reviews before purchasing this product. I had broken my inner CV and needed to replace right away. This was the only one in stock so I bought it. After reading the other reviews I still ignored them and figured the people just had some bad luck. I am not stuck with a horrible rattle under acceleration and will be returning it today. I now have to wait for another product to ship and stuck with tearing into my car again.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS BRAND!

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

I had previously purchased these(Driver and Pass.) CV Shafts 5yrs ago(before they changed over to CarQuest Brand). Both started to become noisy so i decided to swap both out seeing that they had a lifetime warranty. I noticed that they were both a few cm shorter, but the parts guy assured me they would be fine. I myself am ASE Certified, and should have went with better judgement. Its been no more than 3 months, left has busted boot and right is grinding bad. Never buying these again! Save yourself the head ache and money. Not to mention having to go get ANOTHER wheel alignment done!

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

First one I bought bolted right on. No issues till I took it for a test drive. 20 mph and above resulted in the front of the car and steering wheel to shake violently and made the car uncontrollable. Exchanged for a exact replacement and received the same symptoms. Removed and put my OE on back on and the car drove smooth and they way it should. I highly recommend avoiding this dangerous cheap garbage at all cost. For you're own and others safety.

My factory axles had lost the boots completely so figured id change em out bought these but installed them months later so can't return them only exchange them but these things a garbage. They're not balanced.. Meaning under acceleration the shaft gets out of center causing very bad vibrations.. Save yourself the trouble. Have your original VW axles rebuilt... 90% of rebuilds is regrease, reboot.

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

The shaft on this axle is significantly smaller in diameter than original equipment. Immediately after installation a bad vibration developed in the front end. The ABS/traction control light came on within 5 minutes of driving with these axles. Went through all other possibilities and ended up back at the axles. Purchased rebuilt axles from a different supplier and it took care of the vibration and ABS light immediately. The rebuilt axles were the same price as these and had oem shafts with rebuilt joints. Do not buy these axles.

Hello Nick. Thank you for your question. We researched the axle and it only shows to only work for the 5 speed transmission. We do not carry an axle that shows to be compatible with the 6 speed transmission. Your local Advance Auto Parts store or Car Quest may be able to locate one locally.

Happy to assist you with your question Kazi! This axle does not come with extra hardware. You would typically re-use your own hardware. If you are doing the service yourself and worried about the hardware getting damaged coming out; prior to the service spray PB Blaster (Part No 16-PB) and this will help the hardware coming out. If you are having a certified mechanic do the service and a portion of the hardware is damaged our stores carry a selection of bolts that can be matched up to what you have.
