Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

The majority of reviews I have seen are complaining that this part didn't fit their vehicle, and the vehicle they list isn't. I have a Golf TDI and I used this to replace the passenger side axle.

This axle is much stronger and slightly heavier than the original axle. The axle itself is made from a solid bar vs a tube. For my diesel engine, I'm really impressed with this axle because of the torque the engine creates at a low RPM. Installed very easily and works perfectly.

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

thin axle, smaller CV joint than factory, poor materials. Axle so weak, the actual metal sheared off on first test drive of a completely stock VW Jetta with an automatic transmission. Unacceptable.

The actual shaft was skinnier than the OEM that came off the car, but I imagine it is still to OEM spec so I couldn't care less.

wondering if this fits automatic or manual cars

The description says "New; Right; Front; 5 Spd; AT"
I am installing on the right side of my 5 speed Automatic Transmission. It is not identical to the original, nor quite the same as the picture. The original and the picture both show a larger diameter shaft, but it appears to me that the visible shaft is a somewhat thin walled tube surrounding the actual shaft. The part I purchased has simply a solid shaft not dissimilar to the picture of the Fenco model. The quality seems fine. My service manual differentiates between shafts with a six point nut and those with a 12 point nut. My original has a 12 point nut but this unit has a six point nut. The axle looks the same and looks like it will fit, so I'm giving it a try.
