A local shop uses these and installed two on my Subaru legacy. One was bad right out of the box and had to be replaced, the other lasted five months. The replacement for the one replaced right out of the box also lasted five months. I just had both replaced again and one is bad right out of the box. Half these things click and pop on tight turns right out of the box and the others don't last on Subarus. Next time, I'm buying OEM and figuring out how to change them myself.

Oh, and I was told these have a lifetime warranty. According to the manager at Advance, lifetime on these means they will replace them one time in your life. And that's it.

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

Perfect fit and included new capture nut and new roll pin. Best thing was the low price and NO CORE fee for a brand new CV Axle. No Idea how long it will last but for a car with 190K miles on it...Im sure it will last 2-3 years...maybe longer.

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

They lasted about six months and started making noise,I took them back and they gave me replacements, and in about six months started making noise again.I finally got oem subaru axles and no more noise.I guess like they say you get what you pay for.I wasted all that time replacing them twice.

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

I replaced my CV shaft as the inner boot was torn. Change the whole shaft they said, It's got 180,000 miles on it, so you might as well just change the shaft, while it's out. Big mistake with this brand CV shaft. Advance has quality parts, just not this brand of CV shaft. The outer CV joint clicked very loudly on the new shaft, the old shaft was nice and quiet. I avoided buying a rebuilt shaft so I wouldn't run into a problem like this. I'm going to get a boot kit and put the old shaft back in. Don't buy this brand of CV shaft, they're awful. They look nice, but looks aren't everything.

Very disappointed in this product...have replaced 3 times in 3 years, always the same problem...boots just falls apart. And talk about a pain in the gluteus maximus to replace. I wouldn't use this brand except I'm too poor to afford a new one, and they luckily always replace this one with the receipt. TL;DR spring for a higher quality one - I hear Remans are good.

Lasted about 8 months. Had vibration at idle from day one. Now with a few thousand miles on it, have a terrible vibration in shaft and inner boot leaking grease at inner clamp. Will buy a higher quality one.

I replaced both of the front half-axles in my 2001 Subaru Outback. In less than 2,000 miles both have started to cause severe vibrations in my car when it is idling. Replacing solved the issue. I later read online this is a common issue with anything besides MWE, EMPI, NAPA REMAN, SUBARU OEM/REMAN axles. In fact most discussed how you shouldn't buy these GSP axles for a Subaru in particular. Never again, and wish I hadn't done it in the first place.

                • Q:

I just bought this axle for a 99 subaru forester for the front driver's side. When I removed the original axle it didn't have a sprocket on the outboard joint. Upon inspection my abs sensor works via the teeth on the backside of the rotor. I'm concerned about installing this new axle because of interference with the abs sprocket and the hub. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks.
