Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

We'll bought it about 8 months ago to replace my worn cv axle and within those 8 eight months, I've had to replace it once and am going to have replace it again soon. The first time I replaced it, the outer boot ripped within 5 months or normal driving and now it is clicking worse than the original one I replaced. Extremely annoying. The only good thing is that it has a lifetime warranty. It's not a huge and difficult job to do but for the axle not to be able to withstand at least a year of normal driving is unacceptable.

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

I was undecided between a rebuilt and a new CV Axle. After reading around, i decided that for $10 more, a new one was better than a rebuilt one. It fits the car no problem, i'm happy and i have a Lifetime warranty...

Another customer asked the same question and didn't get an actual answer. The page says: "Front Left; Automatic Trans.; w/o Limited Slip Differential" -- Is this the Driver-side CV Axle? Or, the Passenger-side? Does "Front Left" mean (the mechanics view) standing at the front of the vehicle? Thanks

Hi Jim, good question! This is a front left CV axle assembly. Front left is the driver side of your vehicle.

        • A:

Left and Right is always based on the operator's position, ie., the driver's seat. Industry standard is: left = driver's side, right = passenger side, no matter what type of vehicle (car, boat [port/starboard], tractor, etc.)

      • Q:

I'm not sure how ToughOne brand New CV Axle Shaft Assembly for the driver side with different item no# NCV53531, NCV53545, etc are all fit for 98 Maxima GXE with Automatic Transmission. Something is not right as the axle with different part no# can not be an exact fit, what's the difference?

I got # NCV53531 and took it to the mechanic. We discovered that this axle is meant for vehicle with ABS and my maxima does not have ABS. Just FYI that any 98 MAXIMA does not have ABS. Nissan did not have ABS in 98 for Maxima.

How come Advance Auto is selling axle saying parts is a fit when it's not!!!

This is misleading and waste of time.

Unfortunately we are unable to diagnose what is wrong with your vehicle without being able to be there with your vehicle. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.
