Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

not sure what the other commenter's issue was but
this drivers side axle was a perfect replacement for my 1991 nissan sentra ser with 5 speed with limited slip differential. i drove 25,000 miles with a ripped outer boot until it clicked around turns bad. i installed this axle myself, side to side compairison it was the same. i now have over 1000 miles on it problem and leak free, the car drives much smoother. you will loose fluid swaping axles, if you love your nissan use redline mt-80

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

Before I begin, let me say that I've been working on this car for years and have done the great majority of the work myself. This was not my first axle change. Having said that:

This part is NOT the correct driver's side axle replacement for the 1993 Nissan Sentra SE-R / NX2000 (MT w/ factory Limited Slip Differential).

Immediately after installing this part I took the car for a drive and discovered that the car would now vibrate when turning to the right. The magnitude of the vibration would increase with speed, and would originate from the driver's side front of the vehicle. My car did not do this before the install.

After parking the car it would slowly drip transmission fluid until the engine cooled. Once again, this did not happen before the install. After inspecting the axle I found that the connection to the transmission had about 1/8" of in-out play, so I concluded that it was not properly seated. I tried everything I could to get it to go in an extra 1/8" or so, but it would not budge.

I took this axle out and replaced it with Part No. NCV53516, which is listed as the Automatic Transmission driver's side replacement axle. This axle's (NCV53516's) middle-shaft is noticeably shorter, and the fit at the transmission's axle input is much tighter with absolutely no play whatsoever. Problem solved.

The 91-98 Sentra SE-R w/ MT came equipped with a factory Nissan Viscous Limited Slip Differential. For the Sentra at least, one way to tell a Limited Slip transmission from a non-limited slip is that there is a bulge on the driver's side axle shaft input of those with Viscous Limited Slip Differentials.

My conclusion is that this driver's side replacement axle may fit other manual transmission Sentras and NX's, but will not fit the SE-R or NX2000 with factory Viscous Limited Slip Differentials.
