Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

Installation went well. Since this was passenger side cv axle, it was a bit more difficult as the trans side joint fastened to a hanger bracket with limited room to remove the 3 bolts. Some patience and love and it came out and back in just fine. The wheel side popped out fine after removal of tie rod end and strut bolts from the knuckle. My electric impact and axle nut sockets were a time saver as well. A 3lb engineers hammer and cotter pin will be needed to remove the tie rod end (strike at knuckle and she'll pop out.)

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

You get what you pay for , I only use moog products , going to a high quality after market part is a good way to stay out of costly dealer oem parts, I worked at a shop and they even had a contract account with advance , iv used axles from Adavance they are great , never kept cars long enough to see how well the axles done , but we will see how the axles do on my woman's car over the years !

Carrier bearing wore out

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

After almost two tears and 40K mile, carrier bearing wore out. The original axle had a balance weight, this one has a beefer shaft and could not use weight over. I think that was suppose to replace having a weight. This causes a vibration on take off and when weight of car is lifted off going over a knoll. Replaced free but not happy with same vibration that probably wore out carrier bearing. Original axle went 160k.

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

Maybe the Gods were smiling on me for this project. Got both sides of a 2000 Maxima DONE in about 8 hours! This product was a PERFECT, EASY-TO-INSTALL fit - RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. Sounds like what one might expect from a product like this, but I've had some horrible experiences with this very project on previous cars that made me question my sanity doing it again to my current Maxima.

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

Comes with a new castle nut but no cotter pin, so buy one before leaving the store, unless you can save the old one.
I highly recommend an impact wrench to loosen the hub castle nut, it make this part of the job easy. The old axle is difficult to separate from the engine bracket. Remove 3 bolts, 2 from below and the third upper one through the wheelwell. Use plenty of PB Blaster and a sharp steel chisel. The new one will snug up with no problems using bolts.

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

This replacement was a direct fit. The original was a pain to remove due to support bracket tight access and corrosion that required chiseling and PB Blaster to break loose.

Aside from dealing with an axle nut from hell on the old part, this fit great and I'm back on the road. Got a great price and I'm very happy with online process to pick it up at the store.
