Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

These are good replacement axles at a great price, only thing I didn't like was the don't use castle nuts and cotter pins at the end splines.

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

The snap ring on the spline that goes into the transaxle would not compress enough to allow the shaft to go in to the transaxle. The snap ring slot was wider than the axle shaft that I pulled out and this made the snap ring used on the new one thicker and stiffer. It also had a strange bend that would not compress to allow the shaft to be inserted in the transmission. I could not get the snap ring to properly compress on the bench. If I removed the snap ring the shaft would go in like it should. Due to the slot size differnce I could not reuse the snap ring from the one I took out. Not thta I really wanted to as this snap ring is a recommendd replacement item on each removal of the axle shaft.

I ended up returning the unit as I could not get it installed. The sales associate was very helpfull in addressing this situation.

The rebuilt unit I got in its place slid right in just as it should. I realy wanted to put in a new shaft and not a rebuilt.

The manaufacture of this replacement unit looked good and all appeard to line up with the one I pulled out except for the snap ring and the slot. Both were bigger. If a differnt less stiff snap ring was used it might have fit.
